You may want to put your horizontal adsense code below your article title not before your article's title. Studies have shown that user tends to click adsense ads placed below the title of the article. Additionally, add a square size adsense code within the first paragraph of each article by wrapping it around adsense code. You can also try adding square adsense code after your article.
Placing adsense after the title is a good idea. However, i'm against placing adsense code squares within the post content. Although it may increase clicks i prefer to keep the design clean for now. Thanks.
IMHO, the content lacks personalisation. They look stiff, and I believe blog has to be more personal in terms of stories told; the use of first person - local context - but when I skimmed past a few articles - I didn't find that evidence. Color scheme - am not a big fan of dark color scheme. My fav. color scheme is like those you found on techcrunch/mashable. Just my two cents
