Hi All, I have a hosting package with several sites/domains on it. The sites are mostly unrelated and some have links to others. I was told by a friend that I should split the sites over several servers so I get different IP addresses. He said that google frowns on links from the same ip address. Is this true, and if so, what is common practice among people with several sites? Thanks!
Yes, google checks links IPs, to make sure that your are not linking to ur self, some hosts like hostgator offers SEO reeady packages with c class ips. Note, you shouldnt host them with the same host on different account, thats basically the same IP
If I go with the baby or business plan at hostgator, then I'd have to order ip addresses at $2 per month. Do I just pick which ip goes with whatever site?
If you link a few together as long as they are a bit different it won't hurt you. You are also building links so a few links on the same IP will be fine. Just don't go overboard. I would not link more than 7 sites on the same IP together.
It is true; so try to get hosting from different servers. But how many sites do you have? At a large network it makes sense to host them on different servers, but for 4-5 sites - not sure it's worthy.
50+ sites. Some are related. Some aren't. I'm looking into BlueHost and HostGator. BTW, do they allow you to click on your own aff links?
