My website ranks pretty well in Google, but nothing else? :S

Hey all

I found out something quite weird... my site ranks pretty well in google for some terms... mainly "free wii" and also "real freebies"

However, they seem to be nowhere in Yahoo, MSN or Ask (or any other engines)

Any ideas?

Are they indexed?

If not, use the "My Page" RSS trick to get indexed in MSN and Yahoo.

Yahoo has a bit of a different algorithm. I rank better at Yahoo for some of my websites than I do in Google. Google is heavy backlink dependent. Yahoo is too, but also puts a lot of weight in your websites age. This is just one of the many differences. Most people only focus on Google because thats where the vast majority of searches are made.

 

Yeah - Yahoo updates slower than Google does. You'll find that you rank faster on Google than you will on Yahoo because as PHPGator mentioned Yahoo does put a lot of weight in to your sites age.

Google will generate a lot more traffic than Yahoo will so don't worry about it, if you rank well on Google in time you'll rank well on Yahoo and Live as well.

 

let try to pinging.. or submit your sitemap by search engine webmaster tools each.

 

its nothing wierd about it. yahoo, google, msn all have different algorithm and geting ranked on each is a different ball game.
