I have a very nice, very informative eMarketing web site set up with tons of content... comfortably placed Google adsense and a handful of affiliates (strategically placed text ads) on each page - nothing obtrusive... very mellow advertising.... (one landscape banner and one skyscraper (text ads) per page. I am now wanting to add more information and some really cool, FREE stuff, like ebooks, and scripts...etc but, here's my question. Would gooogle (a) - find out (b) - get pissed if they DID and/or (c) - ban me if i... set it up that the visitor would have to click on my sponsor first (my adsense banner) to acceess these goodies?...(maybe not 'HAVE TO' click, but place the ad on the same page as the free goody ASKING them to) ' please click on our sponsors ad and support (web site name)' Is this something people already do? Would love everybody's opinion. (if this is considered 'bad practice', i won't do it) Thanks!
ehm google would ban ou for sure... i don't have a lot of experience with these techniques, but since you ask for these techniques.. you might create a link to another page and make it no-follow. On that page you might ask to click your ads, not sure wether it works tho
well... is this shady at all? I mean, there are people all over the place SELLING these items for $5 and up. Ok .. so the company that's advertising is paying the visitor's way ... ... but... for $.25 (or whatever the going rate may be) 'that company' will STILL get an impression on their site .. and AT LEAST a good couple of seconds to be able to sell you something you just may want .... "Can i have just a Second of your time?" if google targets correctly, this could STILL generate sales for said company, no?
Yes.
if google targets correctly, this could STILL generate sales for said company, no?
Possibly, but unlikely. These companies are paying for people to click the ads that are interested in that product, not for people to click the ads then have an off chance of maybe being interested. If I saw my ads on your site and you encouraging people to click to support your site, I'd be MAD.
ok i'll scrap that idea. I was pretty much thinking the same thing, (that's why i'm here) but if this was common practice, i'd have done it. (i think i was hoping for somebody to have told me TO do it, i guess)
its against the terms of service and it will get you permanently banned. Its not fair to the advertisers that are paying for the clicks to get customers that are not really interested in their products or services.
Try thinking about it from the advertisers point of view, they get nothing out of the deal except wasted bandwidth.
Its not allowed by the Google Adsense TOS and they would ban you if you where to get caught or reported by anyone.
Remember, if your site is informative, gets lots of visitors - they will click. dont risk it by trying all this other nonsense
Please, it's called incentive clicking. Read the TOS. You think you are the first to invent sliced bread?
the best way to do this sort of thing is to use this approach: http://europeforvisitors.com/europe/articles/info/info_advertising.htm its not necessarily asking people to "visit the sponsors" but, still might help you
