I sold my site at sitepoint. The person has paid me $200 paypal and i have acceptd the money. What are the precautions to take before transfering over the domain and site? I have prepared a site transfer document, what else?
All the risk is on the buyer's side now, as you already have the money. Just ensure you now stick to any agreements you set before the sale. Typically these might include you covering the domain transfer fee, you helping set up the site or you being on-call for a period of time while the new owner gets used to running the site.
Its useless the transfer document coz paypal doesn't cover intangible product. If your domain registrar is GD then you can reverse the push domain anytime if the buyer reverse the payment. But i suggest you not use PP when dealing with virtual item.
Beg to differ. Paypal is unreliable when it comes to these things. Check if the buyer paid with a CC or Paypal balance. Be careful with CCs as the buyer may file a chargeback after gaining possession of the files.
I am making him buy the domain again via godaddy so that if he makes a charge back, i have full control and proof of sale of the site.
I would just recommend using escrow.com next time. I haven't used them, but supposedly they are more secure.
