I was planning to get a lot done this weekend on a new project. But I just have not been able to even touch it. Let alone get anything else done. I did spend some of this wasted time submitting to directories. Its easy, mindless work that needs to get done. click, click, cut/paste, click, submit. Now repeat. I have begun to do this more often when I am feeling unproductive, instead of useless websurfing. What do others do to remain focused, motivated and productive. Besides wasting time here on DP?
I make lists of stuff I need to accomplish and mark things off as I do. Otherwise it's too easy for me to lose focus. If I find myself floundering and mindnumb, I revert to the list.
Checklists, along with thinking about the money I can make However, this doesn't always work, and I do sometimes get off track
Check Lists. hmmmm.... good idea. I'll have to add that to my check list. I do keep a sort of journal thats a catch all for ideas, things to do, things to follow up on etc. I should make a seperate check list of things to do so i dont have to go back a few pages to find my last/current list.
It also gives you a sense of accomplishment because you can physically check off tasks you have completed Good luck staying motivated
I concurr with the lists and would extend it to be a goal setting tool. I took a post graduate Organizational Behavior class and I could some up 18 weeks of study as: set goals. Filling in the dead time with directory submissions or forum posts is worthwhile. I used to market a database tool by including it in my sig at a ColdFusion forum. I could almost count on two or three sales per 100 posts so each post was worth a $1 to $1.50 in the near term and probably caused some product awareness.
O.K, I am about to write my list of things i want to get accoplished today. But first, I will cruise through some posts here on DP, make sure I am not missing any vital new info. Will try to keep it to a half hour, then finish my list, then start ticking some things off it. Hope everyone here, myself in particular, has a productive day.
I very much agree. Although posting on forums can sometimes seem like a waste of time, if you are advertising something in your signature, the more useful posts in different areas that you can create, the more people will see your product/service. Considering it's free advertising, you really can't complain
Im always motivated but i have problems concentrating on repetitive tasks like directory submissions. I like doing creative things. How about we switch and you do all my directory submission for me and i work on your projects?
Dreaming about hitting it big with an online business. Some of the cash people are making with little work is rediculous, and motivating.
Listen to tunes, get away from work/internet. It's incredible how many ideas you think of when you step back and dont get too caught up in it all.
For me checklists have a negative effect on my productivity, especially when they becomes too long. Then you will soon feel yourself like a slave to the list. Therefore, I keep mine very short, just aimed for a few days ahead and give a lot of space to creativity(not list working).
asking for guidance is the most important to stay focus and challanging your self that you can do everything...
I guess it's a little different for me because of the work I do. If I have a checklist of articles that I need to write and proofread, I know as soon as I cross the last item off the list, I can enjoy the rest of my day
