In my opinion, what is good about using GMail as the handler is probably their SPF checking. If this thing goes through, it will be harder for spammers to actually spoof e-mail addresses.
Gmail for domains does support POP3. It does not support Gmail notifier and probably a lot of third party tools due to the different domain.
If they don't bookmark the link or remember it then they have to come to my site. But the actual login form is on a Google page, not on my site.
Didn't I read somewhere that if you run adsense on your site you get about 80% of each click and google gets around 20%? Anway, my thought is that Google already gets a sizable percentage of every click on every adsense ad on the 'Net. IF they would open this up and let you run "gmail" on your own domain it would make perfect sense to let the website owner get the Adsense revenue (his 80% anway)... think about it. Right now, I have no adsense on my primary domain. Google earns ZERO off of it. If they would let me open gmail up to my members and provide "mydomain.com" email addresses managed through a gmail interface then Google would get Adsense on my site (or more adsense on other sites), the webmaster gets his slice of the revenue, and everyone comes away with more revenue.
FYI: Today there is a review on Slashdot from somebody who put the service on their site. Good first-hand information. Regards, Duncan
I am using gmail for domains. It is really fantastic. Hope soon we'll be able to place adsense in our Email pages. Any ideas about when G will allow us to do that?
i have got an invitation from gmail for using this service one week back... but i have one doubt...right now ..i am having around 100's of mail in one email id with the domain...say...id[at]domain.com...now if i change all the settings...to what gmail says..what will happen to my mails at the said id.... because of this doubt...i havent taken this option yet.. thanx in advance... regards, deepak
Deepak, I think you've to back all those mails and then point the MX records to googls's servers. No option other than that. I got approved for 500 accounts and it is working gr8 now..
thanx for the quick reply... then does that mean that if i change the MX records for my domain name..all emails currently there will be deleted ??? is there a way of backingup mails other than downloading it via outlook ?? thanx for the help guys.. deepak
ofcourse, you can download all your mails using outlook or other similar mail clients before changeing the MX records. visit www.KeralaClick.com to have our hosted email.
