I have a quick question for all of you Directory owners. I have a video blog that uses videos submitted to video sharing sites like You Tube, Meta Cafe, My Space, etc. The content is risque, but not adult or pornographic and can be viewed by all ages. There are no profane words, or descriptions, no nudity and it is all done as good clean fun. Can I submit it to most regular directories ? or Not ? Here is the Link
While I'm definitely not going to complain about the site. (hehe I'm a guy what else would you expect), it's definitely not suitable for any of my directories.
it really just depends on where your submitting. If you were submitting to mine, as long as it was to the right category, i would except it. If you submit to a domain directory, they wont. It just depends where
Which brings up another good point, if there are directories that wouldn't mind it, is it considered "Dancing", "Entertainment", "Music" ? If your directory included it, what category would you rather see it in ? Is it Mature Content even though there is no sex, nudity, or profane language ? Most of these videos don't even trigger an age consent screen.
Some would accept it, some would not. I reckon it depends on the owner themselves. My grandma wouldn't approve....but a 14 year old kid probably would
Beside content there are some other issues also including whether a site is an established site or not. The site is pretty new has no google backlinks and just 15 pages indexed by google.
Its nice, also boring and unoriginal, but id not be able to accept, the main issue though with vid sites using places like youtube is a lot of the videos are removed after sometime so if the webmaster doesn't check regularly then theres a lot of dead links. Always a bad idea to setup videos on a site when you dont have control over the hosting of the video.
I think with youtube changing it's policy on embeded videos for commercial (only) use, I guess the site will have hard time getting an approval. Besides the 'family-friendly' part will also kill some chances.
Neither would mine, but she also though Betty Page and Marilyn Monroe were "Floosies". Oh Yeah, it's new as a shinny penny, I had a wild hair over the week end Yes, I have seen others attempt something similar, and the sites end up dead in the water, I think mainly because they violate the terms of use and promote porn, dating sites, or use profane language (Although You Tube itself accepts some pretty raunchy tagging and titles.), or use a feed to post the videos with nothing other than adsense or affiliate banners. As far as hosting the videos myself...thinking about it..got a script and a design and all, but for now I'm not to sure. Yep, it is certainly not family friendly, and I know You Tube has had some issues in the past that they are correcting. From what I can gather they are trying to stop "video only" content scrapers, that use adsense, people that use the content that they host in a way that it was not intended by the contributor (like porn and such), and people using their own logo's on You Tube hosted videos.. I don't plan on doing any of that. Thank God there are a nice big handful of sites all over the world web that have the same easily embedded content, and girls keep posting everyday. I guess "it's up the directory" is what I am hearing, which makes perfect sense. There are very few sites of my own that I will link it too (Video Games, Sports, Harley -Davidson stuff are about the only ones) , since it is just not for everyone. Thanks for the input, I guess basically I was just wondering how the site was perceived given it's content.
I would suggest you added it under the 'sports & recreation/dance' section. There should be something like that in most directories.
? when you get my age that stuff is boring, seen it all before many times they all look the same after a while, try the adult directories / blog directories or the kiddy directories.
Quite apart from whether or not the content is adult, it's a sticking point for me that the site does not host its own content. Mashups of video sites are 10 a penny right now. If it's not the source of its own unique content, I'd reject it.
you can submit your site to directories...however the approval rate would be less compareed to a normal site
I will reject it Adult related website are banned in my both directories. You can try other adult related network and directories to publish your website
It is completely dependent on the editor. Many poorer quality directories seem to accept anything these days. try and stick to the submission rules for each individual directory.
