I can't say that sounds fair simply because I don't know the whole back story behind why the Palestinians were kicked out in the first place. As for the blockade, I think you're right. I think Israel needs to do what America did in Afghanistan. Work with the locals in Gaza to root out the terrorists. Not starve and punish the locals just because the cowards in ninja pajamas are hiding amongst them.
Well I went and did some quick reading and coupled with my own prior knowledge of things, this is how I understand the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. Some might argue that it is about land and power. They'd be right IF they were on the Palestinian side. Because this is what happened to the Palestinians since 1946 That's pretty fucked up.... But at it's core this is really about religion. Why? Because the problems began with the advent of Zionism which is an ideology calling for a homeland for all Jews in historic Palestine. So knowing that and going back and reading your post, Israel needs to quit being assholes and sit dwn and figure out how both Palestinians and Israelis can exist together on that land. HOWEVER....... the problem is that now that crazy terrorist Hamas wants to kill all Jews that makes that prospect highly unlikely to ever happen. Israel can't negotiate with Hamas because they are terrorists. Every time Israel tries to concede to something Hamas wants, Hamas takes it as a sign of weakness and attacks them more. The Palestinians need to get rid of Hamas and fight this battle with diplomacy, not rockets. If they don't well, you see what's happening.
but don't you think that would cause more problems? like in Iraq between the sunni and the shites. everyone will start fighting against each other
George I agree 100% One thing that needs to be established universally is that violence only hinders human progress. We'll keep living in fear, and they'll keep "living in caves" if this keeps up. We should focus more on why the other side acts the way it does rather than blindly support whatever side you happen to be on.
Good post again but some things i disagree with. Hamas do not want to kill all Jews. This is a common mistake made by people, Israel does not equate to Jews, there are many Jews that are against Israel and their practises, so does Israel represent them too? Not at all, thats why it is important to make the distinction between Jews, Zionists and Israelis, all 3 are very different things. Arabs accepted the partition plan in 1948 and before the 1948 war started, already zionists took more than what been allocated to them, and occupied lands that been allocated to Palestinians. What resulted since then is killing, massacreing, oppressing ...etc by Israel. Hamas came LONG after that, when nothing worked, in 1987. There are 60 UN resolutions israel failed to implement. Hamas is Israels creation, indirectly. Hamas is symptom and israel is the cause, it would work better if people worked with the cause, then palestinians, will turn their backs to Hamas. But when there is nobody to defend them and get their rights, for sure their desperation will let them go to Hamas. There is a religious element but really it is about land, the majority of Jews in Israel are atheist ethnic Jews, not religious.
The Israeli government is a lot stronger than the Iraqi government because they are a democracy. Look at how for the past 8 years the Israeli people have been living in fear 24/7 of being killed. Yet they never took up arms and started killing Palestinians themselves. The government showed restraint and the people followed. Bottom line here is that if you're a Palestinian the LAST thing you want is an all out war with Israel. Because if that happens Israel will just take more land or flat out declare a Jewish state, kick ALL Palestinians out and be done with it.....
Good points and I agree, except that it is the Zionist Israeli government and their ideology (from the way I understand it) that is driving the land grab. My big question as I look at that map is, how the hell did the Palestinians let all of that happen?
A wise man once made a powerful post that dispenses with the islamic propaganda and puts things into real perspective. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=315587&page=4
the answer for this big question can be very lengthy, but in short, Palestinians had to face powers that are much stronger than they, since this started in the beginning of 20 century till now, which forced things on them that are against their will, since the illegal Zionists immigration started, supported with colonial powers long before 1948, till the current starvation and open-air prison which is also supported by super powers, the question for me as a Palestinian is how could they kept their feet on their own land till now? "As the Arabs see the Jews" His Majesty King Abdullah, The American Magazine November, 1947
Israil would have been within its limits if Arabs were capable of any thing else than having a luxury life and discriminating foreign poor workers. cheers
Shame on you !! you need to be honest with your self !! Israel is making big mistakes and you here opening your big dirty mouth without any arguments but they are terrorists,, so every body is terrorists !! lets kill each other !!
Possibly because Hamas terrorist recruitment-meetings have commonly been held in that university, and it was a real hotbed of terrorist activism, so it was on the Israeli target-list? You say that with sarcasm, but according to the Western European media today, even the anti-Israeli people, it seems to be exactly true.
No, shame on you for supporting terrorists. You need to be honest with yourself. Hamas is known terrorist organization and is recognized as such internationally. In the US, they are on the designated list of terrorist organizations which you can find here: http://www.state.gov/s/ct/rls/fs/37191.htm So, no, not everybody is terrorists. It is people like you who refuse to draw any distinction between the peaceful and suffering Palestinian people and the terrorist groups that harm their national aspirations. Hamas, Hezbullah, Islamic Jihad, etc.
