There are 2 products, product "A" and product "B". "A" sells for 27.99 "B" sells for 48.97. They are both in a semi related niche. Would it be a good idea to offer product "A" as a free gift with the purchase of product "B"? Take note they both have there own sites and both will be new launches. Would you as an affiliate have a problem promoting something like this? Thanks in advance.
You could always offer the $29 one as a backend sale for the 48$ one, although at a reduced price (say 19$ or so), and vice versa if your visitors are not going to run into both through affiliate campaigns.
That would be my 2nd choice but I kinda wanted to play with the idea above. I really want to hear any potential negatives that I might be missing. The way I saw it, it would give the customer an almost buy 1 get 1 free feeling.
I do this with one of my products and it works well. There are plenty of plr books out there that you can grab to use as a free gift.
I don't see why not. You can even point out that it normally sells for a lot on its own. PenisAdvantage does this by bundling Prejaculation and other sites: http://www.penisadvantage.com/orderbundle.htm
Thanks for the tips, I am going to go ahead and try it. Worst case I'll take down the site for the "free gift"
The only problem I see with this is when you give something away for free so many times you receive crappy PLR stuff - you know, when a merchant piles on the "bonuses" and you realize that all the bonuses are rehashed garbage that's been on the Net for years and isn't relevant any more. So I would be concerned that perception wise you'd be devaluing the product you're giving away for free. Think of it this way. If word gets around that "Hey, I got that for free when I bought something else" others are going to be thinking it doesn't have monetary value - not everybody, but some people. Then if they do land on your site in the future or hear about people paying decent money for it the consciousness will be "Why pay money for that when at some point in the product's history it was free?" One thing you can do when you offer the one free product is to clearly state how unique, up-to-date, original, and current this product is - point out how it goes for $XXX amount at your other site, maybe provide some testimonials, so that the perceived value is higher and people don't think it's some crappy PLR thing or an outsourced piece of work that isn't so great. As long as you're careful to use it to build and enhance your brand, not dilute you, you'll be okay. But be a little careful in how you manage it, I'd say. With my reports I prefer to do the discount thing......after people buy the first product which costs more I'll send them a notice that as a prior customer they can get the other product for half price or whatever. This has done very well for me and hasn't hurt the "reputation" of that product I discounted - I'm still able to sell it at full price without much damage to its rep. I've blathered on here...haven't finished my morning cup of java yet....hope this is helpful in giving you some alternate ways to look at what you're doing. Best Dan
Thanks Dan, You made some very good points. The free product is actually a quality product and I' ll have to figure out a good way to relay that to the customer. I can see how a customer would think it must be no good if it was free. I am going to take you advice and make sure the perceived value is higher. -Gabe
