I just finished writing a post on how I was able to get rid of some really bad viruses I picked up. If you would like to check it out, please click here.

Now the symptoms my laptops were having were:
    - Would keep redirecting to Go.Google.com off every google search
    - Internet would slow down after 30 minutes of use
    - Couldn't open antivirus pages

Anyway, if you really want to get rid of your viruses, my link above will really help. Took me around 30 minutes and my PC is now working very well!

I have to admit, I didn't get rid of it all that easily ;) - Took a fair bit of searching around but yeah. Once I knew what I had to do it was pretty easy :)

That is weird... it seems to be spyware, but it was a virus for sure?

Picking up spyware is very easy unfortunately, and happens to people that use the internet a lot, ex: can happen if you have javascript enabled.

Typically people have javascript enabled so if one nasty website hiding it contains that, and a lot of people view it, then a lot of people are affected.

TheHappyInternetMan - Now that you say that you made me think about it. I was testing a PPI site and accidentally installed their stupid .exe thing. That is when the problems began to happen. So yeah, I guess it may of been Spyware. However I do know I had Adware and possibly a virus as AVG picked up stuff that never really cleared off.

c0ldMax, an .exe could really be anything possible... Did you have to accept it? Or was it some kind of error window that was a trick?

Be sure that your Adware and AVG is up to date.

Overall, I suggest you download and run a program called 'HijackThis' - It will remove spyware and browser type "viruses". (It is not completely automatic, although there is a great support forum that will be able to assist you if you need help).

Check out the tutorial here: www (dot) bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html (and you can post in a thread with your results so that they can assist you (it is all free I believe)

    Best of luck!

I've used HijackThis before and it was quite good, however it wasn't working due to the virus or whatever I had. Oh btw, with the .exe I stupidly clicked install to see what it would do to my visitors. Looks like it is all back to normal now though, so all is good :)

I had a problem where I couldn't install Kaspersky for some reason, it kept coming up with an error. Thanks for sharing your view though :)
