hey say i have a site called www.something.com how can i find out which sites are linking speicifically to www.something.com or any content of something.com ? like www.something.com/video.php?asdfas
You could use the link command and try searching for link:www.something.com for example. This won't return a full list of links though since Google only returns a subset via the link command. Add your site to your Google Webmasters account to find out a full list of links to all pages on your site. Alternatively use the link: command on Yahoo for a more complete list of links.
Your best of using yahoo to check for backlinks to do this visit yahoo and in the search bar type link:www.something.com then search All the sites is brings up are linking to yours!
you may find out bks from other SEs then check them if they are indexed by G [site:thatthing] I do use this kind of SEO tool.
But their is a lot big difference between yahoo and Google results and most of the webmaster go for Google results .
Google webmaster will give you and little slow on updation. if u need another third party tool to check it "http://backlinkwatch.com/"
True but yahoo does show a lot more backlinks, if your using it to estimate pagerank of google serps then just use the google link back!
I use Google Webmaster but, as has been stated, it only updates every so often. I also key "backlinks check" into Google and search under several of these sites - the results can vary dramatically. A site such as marketleap.com will tell you how many backlinks you have and then list them if you click the underlined number.
Go ahead and verify your website in the Google Webmasters Tools, using this way you can get a clear idea about your website backlinks
