I didn't realise Smarty had a date function. I've never seen it used before. Would have shown the others if so
It is nice of a member on this forums, to have used this thread to give me a -1 rep and call me an ass. Whom, can i report this abuse to. and... Thanks for the information here. The PHP code helps alot. ~ Mike
Yes, I wonder just how many sites will still have their old 2008 dates - OR... even Before. When we move over to 2009, it shall be interesting to see how many websites we can all find that have 2008 copyright dates. ~ Mike
Hi anOn and others At (eSyndiCat) we also use smarty in the footer.tpl <div class="copyright">© {$smarty.server.REQUEST_TIME|date_format:"%Y"} Powered by<br /><a href="http://www.esyndicat.com/">eSyndiCat Directory Software</a></div> Code (markup):
Maybe I'm missing something. On my website I have four pages that I consider "main pages" and about 170 other, inner pages that rarely change. I leave the original copyright date — for example, © 2005 — on those completed inner pages. Every January 1st I change only the four main pages to read something like: © 2004-2009. They are the pages that continually update, so I update only their copyright dates, not the dates on every page. Am I overlooking something?
You should make sure that all your pages site-wide, include the current year. Not just 4 while leaving 100's left with a date from previous years.
This is practical use of how you bump a thread that is useful, rather than duplicate an exact thread. Live and learn DP. edit: (pipes this is not directed at you. I've sent you a PM. Just trying to educate DP as a whole on how to go about things more efficiently)
