I run a high traffic site which is essentially a photo gallery. If I offered a screensaver, I am certain that I would have dozens, if not hundreds of downloads per day. How can I make money with this? I know that Zango offers 40 cents per install and they can bundle their software with my screensavers, but do I have any other options? I was thinking of bundling the screensaver with a customized toolbar that includes Google search box, but according to Google's TOS, I can't place my adsense code into the search box. So how do I monetize my screensavers without having to charge for it, and without having to install adware on my visitor's computers? Any ideas???
I would suggest you use the Free Download Method, where you let people download a screen saver for free, but its a trial version and then after 90 days or whatever the TOS is, they either have to buy it or they cant use it anymore This can be very effective strategy You have to a bit careful with affiliate codes, because people are becoming more savvy today and they can spot and affiliate code a mile off - then you have the problem that they wont click it - you dont have this problem with free downloads though Another option would be if you have your own pictures and you can turn them into a screensaver yourself. Obviously you mustnt offend copywright, so thats the big problem, but you always make a stack more money from your own produced products than fiddling around with someone elses
yeah, I do have my own photos so I want to offer screensavers which include those photos. I just haven't found a way to make money off of it other than to bundle them with adware software.
"I just haven't found a way to make money off of it other than to bundle them with adware software." Keep looking, don't need any more people pushing that crap.
If you do this then I would suggest offing a free trial for about 15 - 30 days. 90 is a little long I think and the person may end up getting bored of it after 90 days and get a new one somewhere else anyway.
