Is anyone here into marketing with youtube a lot?.
Several people have told me they've got good conversions, citing the virality and ease of access as being the best parts of it, but in my opinion it looks like most of the people surfing youtube are there just to pass the time, or would be too disinterested to actually click on a link and be convinced into buying something.

Since I'm into it, I'm especially interested on seeing if this has worked for people in the health and pharma niche, especially since I saw a lot of videos for the enlargemet stuff recently.

I'd imagine that the people surfing YouTube would be extremely difficult to convert. BUT YouTube videos can rank highly for search terms. So people who find the YT video by searching Google could probably turn into buyers.

It seems like it would work best for those who have very memorable URL to put in the YouTube video itself.

I'd imagine it would work for something like the get your ex back, or relationship niches mostly but for things like acne or yeast infections, no one takes youtube seriously enough to buy something recommended on it.

I heard that 0.5% of people click through from videos.

You can even contact people with high view videos and make a small "donation" in return for putting your link at the beginning of their description.

I just uploaded a video to youtube. Virality is really difficult to achieve, although it's good for keyword placement, and you can put a working link from your video description box. My niche (positive psychology & meditation) all the high performing players have youtube videos...

I was also planing to submit a video and see how things go, but I think the real problem is that when you submit a video and if you dont get much view in 24h your video will be down the list which is really bad.....

for exemple I have 1 video on youtube(nothing to do with affiliate marketing), just a general 3d movie clip.
it was submited more then 8 months ago and got only 144 views so far.....

reason, very few views, down the list

    Thanks for the input, folks.
I'm pretty sure anyone who sees something good on youtube won't just buy from the site, he's going to google for a review or scam search for the product, making sure some enterprising SEO dude gets the sale.

Article marketing still seems to be the best free method after all...

Really? 8 months for 144 views... did you load it with keywords so YT can pick up when they search for related video? The same happened to me, I had some short clips uploaded and they only had 20 views for 2 months. But I uploaded another long video of around 10 minutes, and got almost 100 views in a matter of days.

I figured that a lot of ppl are searching for relaxation / meditation clips on youtube, but very ppl search for affirmation clips.

yes I added the tags such as 3d clip, funny 3d clip and such.
thou my clip was only 3min long, but still, I found many clips on youtube that are 1min long and get more then 10K of views....

I'll give you guys a clue. I market with YouTube and other video sites a LOT!

And truth be told, I make no less than US$1,000 a month on autopilot.

So to answer your question (directly or indirectly), YES, youtube marketing WORKS!

I think the best way to go about marketing on YouTube is to try and drive traffic to free offers or squeeze pages. I don't doubt that there are people out there converting viewers into buyers but I just think that most of the people surfing YouTube are looking for something free and quick.

@HiddenCrimson: No doubt most people (most views rather) there are watching clips for entertainment but there are also tons of people looking to get their solution to their problem RIGHT on video sites itself. Free offers and squeeze pages are fine but don't discount yourself from making decent affiliate income from making assumptions.

@MedicAffiliate: Hi buddy, sorry about that. Let's just say that views into actual sales conversions is no less than 1% for me. What I actually do is cast the net wide before I cast the net deep. In other words, I test to see which niches convert the best for me on video sites and when I've got sufficient evidence and stats to make some sort of a useful conclusion. I create more videos within that niche.

If it helps at all, I'll be creating a product some time next month that will coach people how to market on video sites effectively and this is a result of my experience of putting up no less than a few hundred videos out there.

    Cheers all.

TrafficLicious, what kind of videos do you create? Slide show with music? Or more advanced?

Viral video is a great way to get your message out, rather selling or promoting a product. If you have enough balls to do it, Do the review in person.

If you want to get creative, use slides and snippets of footage if you wish. But the end result of your video's message, is to engage the viewer, and have them make that next step to your landing page.

Personal or graphically advanced, or a mish mash of both, GET THEM TO CLICK ONWARDS AND CONVERT!!!
