I know there are a bunch of pay to click sites out there, but I came across neobux.com and bux.to and they seem to have a big share of the whole market. What I want to know is: Is it worth starting one? What are the pros and cons of the business? How long until it pays itself off? Best ways to market it? (I know you can buy ads on other PTC sites) Lastly, does anyone here own a successful PTC site?

you can start one. you can promote your business with bux.to and neobux. but you want to invest some money.
Well I don't know what to say, the previous answers covered a lot of it... kidding. I don't own a successful website but here's what I've come across. Starting out is tough, as for people to buy traffic from you they want it quick- real quick. Meaning if you offer 10,000 views, 3 days is what they want. This in turn means you need to have a fair amount of members (atleast 7500-10000 as some will be inactive). Here's the difficult part: what do you give your users to click when there's only 100 members? Your own ads. And where does the money come from? Your own pocket. Starting out is tough- and that's why a good percentage of new PTCs fail after the first month or so (and therefore turn into so-called "scams"). Once you get passed the start-up, the going gets easy. You just need some good advertisers and a good system. Bux.to is paying tooooo lately, nearly >6months. Neobux is a fine PTC with instant PTC going very well. Some of the members made >30,000 instantly with neobux from april,2008. Most of the PTCs are failing and turning scams. Advertising in PTCs is ok because every member will forcibly view ads here.
Just remember that when members start buying referrals you earn less money. If you get people who buy referrals in bulk, asin thousands, you will start losing money. Almost all PTC's go under because the initial momentum is great but eventually you can't pay everyone off when they start buying referrals and what not.

Yes i used to run a successful PTC site and buying sticky post at some forum for $200/month.I can buy the sticky post coz i earn more than $300/month. Yes its still worth doing it but be smart,only targeting a specific niche. The downside is that you will find it difficult to look for suitable advertiser. If under planned schedule,it will become profitable after 2 month. I promote it using sticky post at money making forum
Yeah, the thing is marketing. You market it correctly, you will succeed. Also, if you keep at it. Many paid to click sites fail so fast because they just quit after the first month or maybe even first week because they don't see any income. You'll also need to start of with a minor budget.
