What do you look for in a Website Host?

I know that there are many website hosting companies dotted around the internet.

As an owner of one of those many website hosting companies, i have interested to know exactly what you all want in a website host.

Right now, our hosting offers:

• A 30 Day Money Back Guarantee
• Free Scripts
• The Low Price
• Stability

This is also, what quite a few other website hosting companies offer;
So we are genric, just like all the other hosting companies.

What else would you like to see?

The few you mention is the thing a web host must offer.
From client point of view,they need,
24/7/365 live support NOT email support that even take 10 minutes to reply.All they need is instant
Low load server
100% uptime,if less than that then host then month for free
100mbps port
Free domain of any extension from .com to .cc
Host anything without restriction

 

Agreed. We all look at those as great benefits in a hosting company.

 

I agree with the host anything, providing that what is being hosted is "Legal" within the hosting companies country.

Also, things like Rapidleech should be done from home servers if they want to because they are often used for Illegal downloading and it is not worth the website hosting company looking all of their clients and their rights to offer website hosting because of it.

Also, some people do have to sleep. But live support is offered with many website hosting companies.

We, personally have 24/7 support on the phones, and on the client on-line ticketing systems (Max 1 Hour response time!) and also live chat during set hours.

Yes, sales, general and technical support is one of the many qualities a website hosting company must have in order to be successful, reliable and also stable.

The cheaper the hosting; does not always mean, the better the hosting.

Website hosting companies that have medium range prices are good.

They do not tend to oversell (This is not always the case) and can be found to be a reliable web hosting source.

It all really depends on my specific needs per website. Actually, I have such a large network of websites, that I personally need a dedicated server. So in owning one, I also sell my own hosting packages from it. I mostly sell the plans to my web design customers. They are the most loyal.

If I were an average Joe the plumber, i would only need a very basic plan for my basic plumbing website. The site won't require much web space but will require a lot of bandwidth if i ever get my name in the national news. So at least 100 mb of space with 150g month transfer.

Most basic sites use 1 mb of space or less. Unless you are the grahpic/flash/media heavy believer. Then one would need lots of storage. But if people are smart, they would host their videos on youtube and keep their server resources down by embedding the code from youtube.
