Once your site is indexed. Your site is self backlink to itself. So you can not avoid backlink from yourself. BTW: who wants no backlink?
I was putting up a Joomla site for my sister in law. It's about 3 weeks old it still has alot of the Joomla content on it. Somehow Google found it and indexed one page. I'm thinking it was my Google Toolbar.
http://katieprice.blogspot.com/ has PR4 and has had that for more than 12 months. Google says 0 backlinks http://www.google.com/search?q=link:http://katieprice.blogspot.com/ Yahoo shows just 6 https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http://katieprice.blogspot.com&fr=sfp&bwm=i Been that way for a long time.
Google doesn't always report backlinks using their public reporting (info: link to make it harder for people to game the system. So if it shows 0, it means nothing. I have sites with hundreds of backlinks that Google sometimes shows 0 using link:. You said yourself it has backlinks confirmed by Yahoo. The number of backlinks is irrelevant. Here's a quick and easy explanation: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showpost.php?p=9880607&postcount=12 I don't blame most here who are just repeating what they hear, but many of the so-called experts who give info without proof totally amaze me.
blah blah... you asked for an example and there is one. That's exactly the sort of site people are talking about in this thread... whatever "rules" you now feel like making up to kid yourself you weren't wrong.
Rules? I asked for a site with no links and you showed me a site with links lol... It's common knowledge Google site reportings doesn't reveal the links which is why you look @ Yahoo. Where were any new "rules" made up? This is why I usually avoid helping out answering questions here. So many people are misinformed and immediately get defensive and in debate mode rather than chilling out and looking at the facts. Read the link I posted and the link that's in that link. For a page to have pr, it either has to have links pointed directly at it or links pointed elsewhere to the domain than interlink to that page. I've searched and searched for any case to show otherwise and all I've found are fake pr pages using redirects or pages showing toolbar pr that reflects when the site once had links which goes away with the next update. If someone proves this to be incorrect, I won't be all butt hurt, I will welcome the knowledge. This is why I asked for an example of a page with PR that has no backlinks pointed to the domain.
Do you really need to repeat the same novice advice on search engine usage in every reply? Whatever it is you are raving about, people in this thread were discussing sites that have PR without the expected backlinks. The so-called experts might amaze you, but the self appointed experts all over this site I have seen accuse people of faking PR on sites like that one, purely based on ignorant assumptions like yours, hardly raise an eyebrow from me anymore I've seen it so much. And if you haven't ever seen a site with zero backlinks hold PR before, maybe you should spend a bit more time webmastering and less time giving people incorrect tutoring.
so.. who informed you about pagerank tell us the secret... Noboddy knows how pagerank is calculated, only google not wikipedia, nothing.... Its even possible that google change there pagerank calculation every month/week/day ... who knowes? So? What makes you so sure? I have tried it, did you?
http://infolab.stanford.edu/~backrub/google.html Google themselves in this and other quoted interviews. In Google's own words: "PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important"." Yes, Google can change it any time they want which AGAIN is why I ask for an example lol. I would love to know if and when this is no longer true. I've seen Google make statements that were either later changed or proven to be untrue on their algorithm before but I'm not going to assume all of their statements are untrue. Yes I have tested it, this is what I do for a living and obsess about.
I think is possible as long as its visible on google. Unique and quality content can help. Dont forget to submit your url also to G. I already tried this but on DROPPED domains.
sttttttt... check this pagerank : http://hyves.stupidurl.nl/ http://hyves.thisurldoesnotexistHAHA.nl/ http://hyves.blablblblbaalallalalalallaalalalalalall.nl/ al pagerank 7 url doesn't even exist
You might surprise but I'd make a contradictory statement here: this site: http://www.smswonders.com has NO backlinks. you can search yourself. & you know its PR value. PR4!!! surprise surprise. & it's not a blogging site, so the content never get updated or added on the regular basis. Still it has done the magic. Explore & Learn.
checkout this site(it's not mine) http://www.radixautomation.com/ no backlinks with link: search on google (for me) 2 indexed pages on google STILL A BIG PR 5 hows this???
Had me excited there for a sec, thought you had one with no backlinks, but it does; one example of it being linked from a PR5 google page: Here just view source
Huh? This one has links... it's even listed in DMOZ: http://www.dmoz.org/Business/Industrial_Goods_and_Services/Factory_Automation/Automation_Services/
but can a site have pr without backlinks? yes: http://hyves.starthiermaar.nl/ http://hyves.digitalpoint.com/ create a hyves subdirectory Google's calculation of pr is pretty silly i have stupid sites with low backlinks and high pr i have big and good visited websites with low pr actualy i dont care about pr
I agree with you chantal, who cares about the PR(unless you sell links). I have a site it was PR5 6 months ago, now it's PR3. But guess what, I receive more visitors now.
That PR7 is assigned to http://www.hyves.nl/ not the links (digitalpoint for example) you're listing in your 2 posts. One can easily find this out many ways, one of which would be looking at Google's cache of the page. That's really strange though lol.
