    I found this quote http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/

"Fear of the unkown leads to superstiton
Superstition in group mentality leads to religion
Religion + Politics leads to oppression"

A few examples, spanish inquisition, african apartheid, witch hunts, and it goes on

    Religion is just organized superstition.

Too bad the man (not God) who wrote the bible didn't know about Dinosaurs and neandrathal man. Kinda makes the whole book look a lil silly :p

Did they find real evidence of neanderthal man? seems like the pieces so far are pretty thin for a "factual" argument of any sort, now dinosaurs on the other hand are mentioned in the bible from what I have seen. Also the fact the earth was round was known long before scientist said it was flat or some nut who said it was on the back of a tortoise.

superstitions are pretty lame, fear is a controlling factor for most people in some area of their lives. I have fun messing with people in the dark since so many people are easy to scare. LOL

Atheists crack me up. They always drag out the Inquisition or the Crusades as aruements against believing in God, but you never hear much about the wonders atheism have brought us like Stalin, Pol Pot, and Mao. If you could get a body count from those atheistic butchers, it would make any religious war pale in comparison.

Stalin, Pol Pot and Mao arn't athiest butchers, more like Communist Butchers. Theres also the fact that power corrupts and absolute power, absolutly corrupts all.

I have a Question, who wrote the Bible........... Do some looking and you'll find it to be the Romans, Conquers of most of the known world. There where pll befor who wrote the individual books but the first compiled book was publised by the romans and you'll also find the most of the bibles in the world are copies of the roman bible.

The Bible is God’s letter to humanity collected into 66 books written by 40 divinely inspired writers. These writers come from all walks of life (from kings to fishermen) and spans over a period of 1,500 years or more.

Really? Why on earth did the "Romans" write it in Hebrew and Aramaic then?

I use to be an atheist, and then I realized that I'm just a human and I don't know everything...so I shouldn't assert that I do.

Events like the inquisition happen not because of religion, but because the alpha-male mentality is to dominate and control man...sometimes through peaceful manipulative means, and other times in sheer violence....there's quite a spectrum in between I didn't mention.

Athiest are just as prone to this as those whom preach. Lately we've been
seeing a lot of athiest morons trying to prove their bully points in court...it gets silly when they're forcing their belief (or lack of it) on others. No ones immune to the alpha mentality, unless they conciously are aware of it.

At the time when Romans where converting to christianity a new bible was comissioned in thier own language. This became the new testament.

For a religion to spread it is necessary to be translated into new languages. Each version is ussually altered to suit the current Leaders and relegious figures.

An example of where this happens, Egyptian pharoahs have been know to destroy temples and tooms to alter the history in favour of them selves. (Amen-Ra "classic" made himself into a God)

I would like to say that I am not against relgious people except those you base political decission on faith.

Our nation is chosen by God and commissioned by history to be a model to the world. - George W. Bush

The Bible is God's word, modified by Vatican to imrpove church attendance. Original version didn't have the concepts of original sin or hell, so there were no need for people to go to church. In fact they didn't even build churches in the beginning. After the corrections were made, people started attending church in droves to arrange for their sins to be forgiven. Donation went up and the business thrived.

Nice generalization...but that's like saying all black people commit crimes. So essentially you're destroying your own arguement by using arguement patterns that show only bias, rather than clarity.

"All black people commit crimes"... haha that's extremely racist.

So are we arguing about God's existence here or what?

Another good read is "A short Story of Nearly Everything" by Bill B. Thanks to him I find it harder NOT to believe in a superior god considering the odds of us being here. They are next to null... but yet here we are.

Yet another good book is the "Devils Apocrypha". There's a lot of wisdom in that book. Bottom line is, believe in what you want and shut the hell up about it!
