Ofcoz but there are many ways for promoting.Consider ezinearticles also.

 

Best way to promote your site in search engine is by getting more back links. Search engine are using this to get your site on higher position.

 

Get back links by whatever means you can get them. (Ofcourse try white-hat-seo methods only). Article submission, forum submission, directory submission, press releases, etc are some of the best ways to promote your site.

 

Just make sure you have variations of these methods....don't try to use them everyday or often...that way Google will give you more credits.
