Marketing Idea

Since most websites logos lead back to the home page when you click on it I think it would be an interesting experiment to purchase the logo link of a site to point at your domain and see what kind of traffic you could get. It could also be a way to make some money by selling the link that your logo uses.

Interesting idea. It could work wit those websites, what has separate home page link in the navigation. But some websites doesn't have it. So, the logo works as a navigation link to home page.

It also could be little confusing to visitors, if you click logo what says "example#1 dot com. And it would lead to some place else.

But, I think it could be worth trying. With some websites.

I think you are right that it would confuse visitors. I know it would confuse me. Maybe instead of going to the advertisers site when clicked you could use a full page ad with a skip ad button to bring them back to your site.

I agree, interesting idea. But as a visitor I would probably be a little "unhappy". I think that the best marketing is when you click on something, because you know what it is and you are looking forward to read it/see it.

I don't think that confused visitors will be a lot of help or buy anything at all. Most likely, they will leave right away (well, maybe not if your product is amazing).

Yeah, you guys are right. If I clicked on someones logo and that happened I would be annoyed. I'm sure there is some creative way to use your logo though. Thanks for the responses.

I try this idea on my development software site (logo linked to another site instead back to the index) and within 20minutes I received more than 700 reports from members who reported with subject "Is this site having been hacked?" :D

haha.. clever idea.. but don't do such a thing like that, it is important to maintain the credibility of your website guys.., when you do that, the visitor will think negative to your website and you lose your credibility.. :)

Good point jibond. It isn't worth losing credibility. I'm gonna scrap this idea.

It's an interesting idea but if I were on a site and I clicked on the logo and I
was taken to a different site I would be a little angry.

I think it would be a bad idea as it would make my visitors irritated. The general idea of the header logos are to link back to the website's homepage so the visitors would click on it keeping in mind that thing and if they land up somewhere else they would be confused and irritated.

That's my thought though I have no idea what the majority will think about this.

    Cheers!
