I am not keen on christmas either as i am not religious why should i have to celebrate it,its just another day in my books.
My traffic has fallen as expected. I dont give a crap though, too busy with Crimbo stuff to care. Get over it.
Interesting, Yes, holiday season is always a downer for business other than retail sites, but I have seen a significant drop off in not only holiday traffic, but all traffic over the past few months. Seems to me that this recession is far worse than most know yet. Success to all,
Maybe you should start a Christmas-related site then. At least you'll be able to watch traffic picking up on that site as Christmas approaches. I don't have one myself, but I've heard from some people who have them (on another forum) that holiday-related sites generally do fairly well.
I think its rather hypocritical of people actually (especially in Western Europe) that people celebrate Christmas when most of these people are actualy athiests hence I suggest Christmas be called Winter holiday (i.e. schools get 2 weeks holiday rather than Christmas holiday) and so there own't be disruptions to normal life so much. Why celebrate something when you dodn't believe in the religion aspects of it.?
Well, I don't have great experiences around Christmas, it's more just what has happened in past Christmas' that make me not really enjoy the whole season, don't think it's a good idea for me to go that far into it but i'd say the past 3-5 years havn't been great around Christmas for me due to different things.
I'm not religious too, but I try to get joy in this day because many of my friends celebrate Xmas. I'm to say ever more, i have two Xmas, because i live in Ukraine.
if its personal & u don`t wish to share it...that`s fine!! but all i can say is...it might well have been a co-incidence if, any unfortunate incidence occured to u at that time. in any case, do remember that u don`t celebrate x-mas by choice while, others don`t have the means to celebrate it!! ...& i hope that this x-mas is better than ever, for all of us!!
I agree, i celebrate christmas more or less purely as an indulgence thing, present buying and giving, i give no thought to what is said to be the real reason though. I dont believe in god, but im catholic against my will. I did find some interesting info that showed how many faiths, even ones you would not imagine to are actually all going by that same date 25th dec, il not go deep into it, but it could disappoint about 5 billion people in the world. I still like what happens at christmas though because where im from we mostly dont get together like that so even if its just for one day out of the year its better than never. One thing im not keen on is christmas advertising from september onwards, for years i have been saying that i would like to see no tv, radio, published or online ads for christmas till dec 1st, so as to add a bit of magic to that month and also to take the pressure feeling off of the population in the run up to christmas.
I like Christmas except what the OP pointed out, the sheer drop in traffic, but it will be back to normal come January
through the whole year we worked hard to get traffic or blah blah. so we need a break for some moments and I think it's a great excuse to relax for couple of days.
For me I do not like how businessmen commercialized Christmas such that it seemed to be a money spinner for them rather than a joyful and holy day for families to get together and have fun. I feel that Christmas is now so commercialized that it seemed to be a day of wild shopping and indulgences rather than a family reunion. Not really enjoying Christmas as I had used to.
