Hi Guys, This site (www.herbalremedy.in) did some good business in the past and now it has the same rankings and infact better then ever in Yahoo but business not as expected. Keywords such as "Herbal" "Herbal Remedies" are on top 10 on Yahoo but Google only gives top rankings for many product related keywords for this site and not generic keywords. Though it still receives similar traffic from Google and Yahoo like it did on those months when I had good business.. but now it seems people only do Window Shopping on my site and not actual purchasing.. Would like to have some views from people to know exactly what is wrong and what can be done to regain the business. (never mind if any basic comments or expert views) Thanks in advance!
Have you try to advertise your products with Google AdWords or Yahoo Publisher Network? buy some advertise spaces on Herbal related sites. There is nothing wrong with your site. You should add phone number to top, install "live chat" support. People will check the market price, before they purchase it from your site so you want to lower the price a little bit or something.
Several points for you: (1) Your site looks great. If someone finds you, your site conveys professionalism and authority. (2) Because your traffic seems as steady as it has been before, people may not be buying because they find you are no longer price competitive. Consider doing some window shopping on competitors' sites. If you can undercut them ON YOUR BEST SELLERS ONLY, then do this and make a point of enabling the viewer to document that you are providing the best values. If you do this for your best sellers, then the viewer may assume (correctly or not) that you also offer the lowest prices on everything else. (3) And, while I notice that you seem to be marketing India and the US, you should be aware that virtually every retailer in the US is currently suffering financially. People here are simply not spending much. If matters are currently different in India, then you might want to focus on meeting their needs as well as you can. The "live chat" idea that cheapez suggested might be a good one if you can afford to do that. Or consider a long list of FAQs.
ReadingBuddy has it right. People are doing a lot more price comparison shopping than ever before. One idea would be to send out newsletters with monthly specials or coupons.
I think that you have done very well with your site layout. As simple as it could possibly be, well done. Your problem I think lies in the consumers' confidence. This is being experienced heavily by most retailers at the minute so dont worry, its only a temporary phase. It will pass. Also, consider replacing the buy two get one free offer with discounts instead-people will buy just as many products only will be more tempted.
I think that you should consider changing some of your products or add some new content to the website. Also, use some good marketing techniques and see what happens mate. ~ Mike
Looks really good and the first impression I got was to click on something which is good. I really think your site will generate really good business, but one thing I think people are most insecure is about security of their money, so I think its good that you have that Paypal verified, however the more you have, the safer the shopper feels and likely to buy.
Thank you all for your comments. Special thanks to - ReadingBuddy working on one of your suggestion. I require a small help from any US resident! (thank you in advance) Just think that you are a Customer who needs to buy a herbal product and you visited herbalremedy.in via search engines... When you are on the site. Questions to you - 1) Will you buy a product If you are really interested in buying say - Himalaya hair cream (was it easy in finding that product from the homepage ??) 2) Is the site loading in few seconds there with a normal internet connection ?? 3) Do you feel secured enough to proceed with the purchase or something is holding you back ?? 4) Does the design make you feel like browsing the site or you just thought of closing the site ? 5) Did you feel that the offers running on the sidebars are interesting or nothing impressed you ? 6) Did the price of any product you saw made you feel like it is too high or a little expensive or its OK ? Thank you for all you help.. answers to this questions will help me improve the quality of the site to make it more appealing and interesting to the US Customers since that is my main target market.
The site has a professional design and layout, filled with cool green colors that impressed me a lot.The site was loading without any issues and it was faster.Right now iam not interested to buy anything from the site but i had bookmarked it and may be use in future. As you told design attracts me in browsing and not to close.I think that the price is reasonable for all products.Thanks.
Thanks buddy! Though I did not intend market my site through this post.. but to get a positive review like yours and get my site straightened if there is any problem with it. May be next year the site will bring smile back on my face.. but for now
More things for you to consider: On your "How to Shop" page, you tell viewers that they can fax credit card information to you if they are reluctant to put it on your form or they can telephone you with this information. Yet, you provide neither a fax number or a telephone number. You might want to fix that.
Yet another thought: Would you think that many of your customers in India would want to purchase, for example, cumin powder or other ingredients of curry from a US supplier or would they more likely be interested in a vendor from India? I would think so. Similarly, customers in the US might be somewhat reluctant to purchase your products if they can be purchased closer to their home. For one thing, they may have concerns about the purity of the goods, whether the US Customs officer would confiscate their packages when they entered the US, or whether they might have to pay an additional tax and/or duty to the US government before they could receive the goods that you shipped to them. At the very least, you might consider addressing these issues directly somewhere on your web site.
Point taken.. That will be covered under the FAQ's section that is under development now. The issue with Customs as you mentioned is a common issue and world over people now know that if they are ordering something from other country there is always an element of risk involved if that will reach on time or will reach at all.. But that is being dealth by providing re-shipment at no additional cost or a refund. Highlighting that issue may put unwanted doubts in the Customers mind even before they decided to purchase. And yes mentioning no additional costs to be paid by Customers while accepting the shipment is a good point. We add that to our FAQ's. Thanks a lot again.
I don't know how large an operation that you have, but if it is more than a small family operation, you might consider partnering with someone in the US (who also wants to access the market in India for his different products) and each of you carrying inventory for the other. Several goals are accomplished simultaneously: the goods are already on the soil of the buyer so there are no concerns about customs, taxes, duties, or extremely high delivery charges. Further, delivery time should be vastly reduced, toll-free telephone and fax services should be far less. And, I expect, the potential customer may feel more secure buying from a "native" rather than someone in a foreign country half-way around the world where he may perceive that there may be no recourse whatsoever if he is unhappy with the business transaction. Just some ideas that I hope you (or others) find a bit helpful.
