Please help me because I new to the online marketing game. This is what i want to know. How do you use RSS feed to generate traffic to a new website? Iam under the impression that you can syndicate your content but the only way that people will know that you do this is if you already get traffic to your website. So please tell me this, is there a way that I can use RSS feed to get traffic to my site even if i dont get much traffic to begin with? How is this done? What are the companies that provide this kind of service?
Chances are that if your site is not getting much traffic, you don't have content that is interestinging enough to get people to visit. RSS won't solve that.
I agree with mykoleary - syndicating your content probably won't help you much unless your site is already established and has significant traffic. It's kind of like asking for a loan from a bank: You don't have any money? Then we can't give you a loan. You have a lot of money? Here, have some more! Using third-party RSS feeds on your site, however, may help you to increase your traffic - by diversifying your content, you may draw more repeat visitors, as well as improved placement in the SERPs. I tend to disagree with that. If you syndicate your content and post it to different article / rss sites, and other webmaster put your feed on their sites these serve as free one way links. I use rss and add it to My Yahoo and My Msn (whatever it's called) and also have a few people with my feed on their sites.
I think the point mykoleary was making (and I supported) was that, for a site with little or no traffic, it may be difficult to get other (especially authority) sites to pick up a syndicated feed. I agree, however, that if you are able to get other sites to pick up your feed, this will provide more benefit in the way of SEO than posting feeds from others on your site. Sam
You put out a feed and scraper sites will grab it. You will actually get traffic. Never done me a bit of good. If you are talking about a blog then RSS doesn't matter: Yahoo, Google and all sorts of people will suck it in. As the others have more or less said - strike a nerve or chord and you'll get visitors. Otherwise ... I used to make sure I was listed with everybody from Bloogz to Technorati. Now I just leave it to luck and timing. Richard
I created a website called http://onemillionsubscribers.com The idea is to get 1 million RSS subscribers to my site. The hard part is going to be keeping people subscribed until I receive the 1 million subscribers. So I guess I am kind of working backwards asking for subscriptions first. And worrying about the website traffic later.
That is kind of a backwards approach, but an interesting experiment nonetheless. I'd be interested in knowing how it unfolds... Sam
RSS feeds can help get links to your site, and hence improve your rankings in SERPs. It is a good idea to start submitting your RSS feed to some of the RSS directories available. People will check and use your feed from directories.
Not bad at all. I think the rate will need to increase, though, or it will take around 274 years to hit 1 million. If you're using viral marketing techniques, and sound SEO, you should have no problem increasing the rate. Sam
