Following on from my rant in my thread http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1160280 I thought id bring it to the attention of the seo guys here There so little knowledge and people giving bad advice on this forum, thats why people are getting scammed. People with crappy sites are asking people to rank their terms to the top, its just not going to happen at all. Sorry for the rant but im fed up a stupid questions
When you say that you are not alone. People have failed time and again to understand that SEO is not a set process, their is no step by step guide to get to the top, irrespective of whether the term is competitive or not. We have guidelines to work with and SEO pros have tried and tested their own methods around these guidelines. I strongly believe that this lack of transparency, absence of standard and ambiguity because of search engine not being forthright are the reasons behind all this. Can't help though. There will always be scammers, they are in every other industry and our is going to be no exception. They only thing that works in favor of them in our industry is the fact that misinformation prevails to a large degree.
there's a hell of a lot of good advice on these forums too. you just need to seperate the good from the bad, and those who are not capable of this deserve all they get. you have to be something of an SEO enthusiast in order to get good rankings, and many people here are not. they just want the results. so when they see "top of google for $9.99!" they are like "omg1". this is a busy, robust forum and the knowledge here is immense, but unfortunately so is the bullsh*t
There are guidelines actually but people are lazy to follow it... I am following my own rules and I say I have my own good result...
Spot on mate. Separating the good from the bad, as separating the wheat from the chaff. But I pity those guys who fall for those bullsh@t and take the bait. They are out here looking for advise but don't have the requisite knowledge to make the distinction.
