Blog comments - Which id to use?

When I comment on blogs I have been posting a name and website URL. Is it better to do that or should I use my blogger id?

Why would you use your blogger ID? Using your name and your URL is fine.

I see many people using their blogger id when commenting and seeing that I am using my blogger site as the website I didn't know if it would have an positive or negative effect if I used the blogger id instead.

I always use my name, but I seen that a lot of people are using keywords or their blog names instead... not sure if I am doing the right thing or not.

My focus is me, instead of "only" marketing my blog.

Whatever you post in the name box your site will start to rank in google for that term if you get enough links.

So if you put your name your site may well show up for your name.

Many people put a keyword which is what you really want, but the blog owner often deletes these.

Use your site name, title or keywords. If you're posting something useful, the blog owner will not mind that you're doing a little self promotion. If you're just posting junk to get a back link, most of it will get deleted. By the way, make sure you're commenting on DoFollow blogs or the links won't to much good if you're going for PR.

    Thanks for the tips.

You don't you think that most bloggers will delete your post if you put in key words as the name? It seams a little self serving to me but I would like to get useful links too though.

I have 3 blogs, and if someone puts some keywords in as their user name, and posts a good comment, I have no issue with that. Deleting a useful comment because someone wants a little link love is a bad way to run a blog. My opinion.

I agree with you as a blog owner will never mind in allowing you to do some self promotion untill and unless he feels he is getting some value to his blog through your well written comment which means adding a good new fresh content to his blog which will help him to be noticed and revisited by search engine spiders more frequently.

I agree that if someone posts some really useful information and actually helps create a good blog then they deserve a little link loving.:D

No use of using your id, you can use only your name and url enough.

But the sad thing, some bloggers are not that open minded. They immediately delete a comment if they noticed that you are using your keyword. They doubt if your comment is sincere and not for the purpose of link building only.

I always use my name though.

I want to be more specific, and try an example.

If the blog owner allowed it, would the best thing to do be to use the name of my blog (as my name), and then a link to my blog as the url?

For instance, my blog is slymarketing.com, I would then use slymarketing (or slymarketing.com or www.slymarketing.com)?

Or, since my blog is about Internet Marketing. Should I have used the best available keywords instead, like Internet Marketing Strategy and not the name of my blog (as my name)?

I have always just been using Jens P. Berget (my real name).
