I just use the adwords tool and add in 2-3 word suggestions and it will spit out quite a few 3 word tails and sometimes 4 if there is some traffic. I have trouble finding longer than 3 word tails, but usually cause there is little traffic on them...

We are searching for long tails too. And a lot of times the Google Adwords Keyword tool will show "not enough data", which to us basically means the term is not popular enough, need to revise and retry.

For long tail keywords you should not go for Google Adwords...

It will definitely show the message that "Not enough Data"

You should try some other tool.

Or you can split you keywords to check them in Google Adwords...

And than you can combine them together so you can get benefits of targeting more than one keywords..

    Hope you got it...

I would rather not repeat what I have already put in to my free eBook here because it would take a while so instead I will direct you to my free eBook. I hope it helps and that you don't think I am just trying to advertise my eBook.

    Download it via my signature.

the best way for me to come up with long tails is to just sit and think about what people will type in. The google tool is ok at finding them, but sometimes the best thing is trial and error. Another thing to do is test those long tails by plugging them into an SE ,and see what comes up. Does it look like something people are competing for? If so go for it.

I like to just write a bunch of content and optimize it for my main keywords and then you will subsequently start to rank your website for long tail keywords naturally!
