Is it important to get thousands of backlinks from a single domain?

    I wonder if I get a sitewide backlink from a domain which has over 4000 links and about 2500 of it indexed by Google, is that helps my SERP?

    Which is more helpfull?
    a) get backinks from 10 different domain which has different IPs (totally around 500 page)
    b) get a text link from a domain which has 4000 pages, and my links will appear on all pages.

    I would think that different domains would be more helpful, but I'm not an expert on it.

    Assuming that the 10 different domains have the same quality as the single one, you would chose the second one.

    You'd better get backlinks from different websites. Anyway Google count no more than one link from a page.

    I agree with BucketBux about quality over quantity definition. But it also means that a backlink from a page with higher page rank is more valuable than several links form a page with lower PR.     I would rather have a few quality links from the same sector as my own site than 1000s of links from any old sites.

    You have 3015 post, which means 3015 backlinks to sites on your signature.
    What would be the equal value for the google end with several different domains?

    Is it 100 backlinks from 100 different domains with several PRs?
    Is it 450 backlinks from 450 different domains with several PRs?
    Is it 750 backlinks from 750 different domains with several PRs?

    what could be the formula? Or getting 3000 backlinks from DP is nothing at all ?
