I've read many places that updated content is favored by google. Would google prefer updates everyday vs everyweek?

The more unique content you push out, the more Google Bot will crawl your site. I don't think it will affect your SERP but the more articles you have, the more keywords you can rank for which is always good.

I'm pretty sure that the more content the better. Usually the crawlers will crawl through your contents every week or so(it depends) and the more content it finds the better. I suggest when you write content to use keywords from your website when ever you get the chance to like if your web page was named helpfulblog, you would use the word helpful in a sentence when ever you can instead of friendly.

Google loves unique content, so it's upto you how often you can provide unique content. Write for readers, and not solely for search engines :) :)

For sure it would. You create more pages, use good titles, and capture more long tail surfers.

well.. I don't think so. It helps google to crawl your site more often if you update frequently.
The more quality content you post, the more visitors you'll get.

Every day update of blogs is not a must! I prefer doing it weekly, but I make sure it is a quality post. Not a duplicate, not a crap! :)

It doesn't means that you keep updating rubbish content daily . You can publish one good quality post in two or three days and get good rankings in google . But post need to be different from other thinking lol . Go and check copyblogger blog and you will understand how much and in which manner we need to update our blogs . Quality is more preferable than quantity .

A website can gain pagerank simply from its own pages on the site. Therefore if you have 365 links to your homepage because you posted every day for a year, instead of 52 from posting once a week for a year, your website would have more PR from your own pages. Google gives "favor" to websites with more pagerank thus having more posts directly equals favor with google.

That is the only thing I can think of where the only variable is "does google give favor" simply on volume of posts. You may get other favor with google indirectly, 7 times more quality posts gives you 7 times more opportunities that people might link to your content.
