All I did was contact YPN with a simple question and this is one of the responses they sent me. I guess they revisited my site and found I was in violation of their rules even though this is the site that was accepted to begin with. Anybody got any ideas what they are talking about? I did e-mail them to get a specific answer so I would remain compliant, but if I'm not mistaken, don't a TON of other sites blend ads and use images to draw attention to those ads? I'm not tricking anyone into clicking anything. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, boxer126
It also says "Sponsors" this isnt allowed, it also says your not allowed to label it in any other way, so you cant call it resources either
I visited your site few days ago.and i thought you might be got booted if you ads in that way. It's too obvious,it's against the TOS.You have to move the"sponsors"and"recourses"as well
That's not the problem. IMO, it's your choice of images. If you are going to use image coupling, use highly generic images and make sure that they are related to your content. For your site, that would be generic images of gaming, right? Images of sexy ladies can be misconstrued, and, IMO, the folks @ YPN don't want that. Use images that wouldn't offend anyone--even the Queen of England, if she was to visit your site. Or you can just get rid of the images altogether. That "sponsors" heading needs to go as well. As always, IMO.
Hey Boxer, I hope you're working on your site redesign right now, b/c those ad placements will definitely get you banned. And since we're in another round of people getting booted from YPN, I wouldn't push the limits.
Thanks for the responses everyone! I removed the images in the main boxes in the middle of the pages. I believe the ones on the right are OK. I'll have to wait and see what YPN says. I also removed "Sponsors" and "Resources". I didn't see anything in the TOS about that or the images, but we'll see. I don't want to get kicked out. I'm also in the process of installing geotargetting so they can't nail me for that even though my traffic is like 85% US. Oh, and one more thing, do you think it would be alright to tag the tables that used to say "sponsors" and "resources" to "Ads By Yahoo"? It doesn't matter what I put, I just want it to say something. It looks bare without a tag. Thanks again, boxer126
Also, that babe stuff will get you terminated! You cannot have adult on the same pages as the yahoo ads
I'll have to figure something out with siteformen.com tomorrow. I don't have the time tonight. I don't do much with it anyway. It's funny, though, after getting the e-mail I thought the same thing about siteformen.com. But the e-mail directly referenced allfreeflashgames.com as the offending website. Not siteformen.com. Oh well, I'll keep you informed when YPN gets back to me with the specifics. Besides, look at every website running adsense and ypn. They ALL (OK, 95% of them) have images drawing attention to the ads. It kind of sucks too, because I just hit $30/day mark. Later, boxer126
several people have said that in this thread, but it's not correct. if you all go back and look at the email from yahoo that he quoted, it doesn't say anything about how close the images are to the ads. proximity is not the issue, it's association with the ads that's the problem... if he had put a thin line around the pics or the ads, there probably wouldn't have been a complaint. this has all been detailed in previous threads about using images next to contextual ads.
well I just read the TOS and it appears ALL images or media near an ad is now considered a bad thing! "Images or other media cannot be associated with the Ad Unit" this sucks..there goes my daily revenue lol
I had the same email from YPN for 2 of my sites - ended up adding some distance and a colored bar between the images and the ad code, and that combination was approved by YPN with only a relatively small drop in CTR.
the tos doesn't say anything about "media near an ad"... that was your mis-interpretation of it. i have images right next to ads, just as close as the o.p. in this thread, and my pages were approved by ypn. put a border around your pics, and ask ypn if it's o.k... then let us know what they tell you.
