Why shut it down? Just turn off the content network. Since the organic search results are going to crap, you may get a better ctr on your ads. People will see these crap pages, hit back button, and try a paid link on the side. Maybe??

What this whole thing is pointing out is that, Google will index subdomains differently from folders. So for example you will notice that with a new site you can only get your main page indexed. However if you have the same site but put each page in its own subdomain or "virtual subdomain" then G will index them all fine ;)

Does this also affect ranking in SERPs? For example keyword.domain.com will rank higher than domain.com/keyword? Or is it just for indexing purposes?

Now, do people think they will actually get paid by Google for doing this spamming? Doesn't this go against the "made-for-adsense" rule? If someone suddenly ends up with a gazillion dollars accumulated via adsense in a short time, won't google be looking at that very closely instead of just blindly sending the spammer a check? Am I missing something?

Wouldn't be any different normally from a folder for SERPS purposes. The reason these sites are ranking so well is from the sheer number of backlinks with anchor text which is taken from scraped search engine results.

I used to think that Anchor text on your own site didn't really have much effect on serps.....or maybe anchor text from subdomains is treated like a link from another site?

You can change the sub-domain stuff to anything and it redirects to an ad page!

Earlier today I E-mailed the dude who registered the domains, asking how he does it, and how much he makes, that I wanted to try this [Disclaimer: Just to try to get some info out of him.]...and I don't think I'll get a reply from him. :D:D:D:D

Totally agree. These comments of "oh, how cool, I am going to do the same" are absurd. No way he is going to get away with this.

I've been using MSN more and more lately and I think their results are more accurate than Googles.
