Excuse me for the newb question, but cruising thru the list of threads here and visiting a lot of directories. One thing I notice is that many site do not have any advertising on them? Do they make money simply by pay for links?
The idea is that you want people to exit a directory via their submitted links. This helps provide 'value' to the link directory. Typically, you will only see ads on NEW directories, such as mine, which are attempting to earn some revenue while providing the link directory service. Once Google decides to update their PR, I won't have to worry about Adsense or anything else. Then I will be able to depend entirely on 'paid' submissions to earn revenue.
For New directories.. until they have some PR, There is only way of Text Ads, they show, one they got some PR, They will change to Paid to earn revenue. that's why probably you can't See ads
I think he means that new directories, has no pagerank. So their only way of revenue is through selling text ads. but Once google updates their pagerank, more people would want to submit, their submission will turn paid. And then they wont need text ads to generate revenue, but it will come from the submissions. ..... or someting like that I dont know lol...
