i think backlinks is the best way to get indexed.

 

I think we should not make any special efforts let the Google robot crawl the site of his own. If you want to make any special effort then you may submit site into Digg, propeller, stumbleupon or you may use mixx also because they are best social bookmarking networks..

 

You can create xml site map page, then submit to webmaster tools.
