What would be the most effective keywords for a Pet Community with Forums? Check out the site: www.IHeartPaws.com I am not getting very much from Adwords and I'm getting stressed! 4 clicks in 48 hrs!!!
Pet Forum, Pet advice, pet help, I have about 100 keywords (is that bad?) but many are inactive. I really don't know the science behind adwords. So I don't know the best way to use it.
try to add more keywords every day, add hundred of negative keywords to the campaign too. what is the bid price per keyword are you paying? How you do intent to get Return of the money you invest in Adwords with your site?
You may want to consider a one-day subscription to Wordtracker (www.wordtracker.com) to find related keywords and their search counts in the major SEs. I believe a one-day subscription is around $8.00 US, and usually lasts around three days. Another (free) possibility is using Good Keywords (www.goodkeywords.com) in conjunction with the AdWords Traffic Estimator - use Good Keywords to get a list of related keywords, and then paste the list into the Traffic Estimator. Sort the Traffic Estimator by bid price, and you'll have a pretty good idea of which keywords other advertisers are bidding on. HTH, Sam
It seems that you are trying to grow your community/forum. What I would do is gather thousands of male/female pet names/ celebrity pet names etc. Once I have this all nice and pretty I would give it away free (no sign up) but I would create an (exit pop up) asking them to join iheartpaws.com/chat. It's simple, post your pet question and only when someone answers you'll get an email alerting you so you can see your answer. Have the forum link in the pop up. Something like that may get you some results. There are thousands of like minded people searching for dog names and last time I checked there was only one advertiser. So you'll need to make your ad more compelling than the one ad and the free dog name listings. Hope this helps
Use keyword discovery or overture keyword tool to find all keyword searches for "pet" then add them into your campaign. If you have good budget then also try to target websites with "pet" on focus thru site targeted campaign.
Thanks for all of the great ideas!!!! I'm going to try everything- you are all so great! I have one question... what is a negative keyword?
Hi Angeleyes, A negative keyword is one that you include in your campaign to prevent your ad from appearing when a search is executed using that keyword. To use the AdWords example, if your main keyword were 'tennis shoes', and you included '-red' as a negative keyword, your ad would appear for searches on 'tennis shoes', but not for searches on 'red tennis shoes'. HTH, Sam
I'm not an adword advetiser but i would try pet community as a keyword. At this moment i don't see any other advertisers on the Google search enginge using that keyword.
you can also try the Keyword suggestion tool at DP . I'm sure, you'll get a few suggestions. http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/?keywords=pet&country=us Also, if your site is about dogs, cats and other pets, try using niche keywords and phrases including 'cats' and 'dogs' also. Like cat food, funny animal pics, dog care etc.
