while other registrar take only $7-10/year to register domain why register.com fee $36/year and i think its very expensive anyone know why? thanks
Well they have a different customer than what Godaddy etc mainly has. They are focusing on the one time domainer or a business owner. Network Solutions are the same. These type of customers they target have no idea on where to get cheaper domains. Many pay hundreds of dollars per year on renewals not realizing that they could get it much cheaper else where. In fact I had a friend who I even explained in an email how to register or transfer a domain but instead they paid over $100 to renew a name as they could not be bothered learning how to do the transfer. There is a complete different world outside of the general domain name community.
With 7-10$ per year you get limited services where as for 36/year you get advanced services.Domain protection,Managed DNS,....etc
@seobot you are wrong i have saw that standar registration between register.com $35 and godaddy $7 has similiar feature for example like managed DNS
Why? Because they can & people are stupid enough to pay that much! It's called business, just like how you can buy petrol at one service station cheaper than another, a loaf of bread cheaper at one shop cheaper than another, etc.
save is true. There is no difference between customer service or additional features. Register.com target high end customers who would just pay anything. Its called "preying on the innocent". That is nothing, if you come to my country, Fiji, you would see some local registrars pricing domains as high as $200. And that is for .com registration lol. And businesses in my country go for that since they have a misconception that that price includes all services and bonuses not offered elsewhere....
