5 steps to promote your blog

Hi,

If you buddy come to you asking for 5 specific steps to promote his blog, what will you tell him?

Ex:

1. Go to www.somesite.com submit your site.
2. Go to www.anothersite.com do the following...
3. etc

5 specific steps.

Find DoFollow blogs and comment on them.
Post on forums with your blog in your signature.
Submit to digg/stumbleupon/mixx/delicious

In no real order, and I can't really think of 5.

 

Saw a topic some time ago, where a guy had 5 steps he did every single time he created a new blog. He then started on the content etc.

 

Blog Commenting
Directory Submission
Article Marketing
On-sight SEO
Do something else that is creative, some type of prize related to your niche perhaps.

 

there is only two steps
1. get some good baclinks.
2. Try social bookmarking

 

There are a lot of strategies to follow, but it all boils down to getting relevant backlinks to your site.

1. Write some articles, submit them to article directories.
2. Submit your url to social bookmarking sites.
3. Submit your RSS feeds to directories.
4. Write press release & submit them to press release distribution sites.
5. If it's a blog, ping your site

 

And with social bookmarking, be careful that you don't post all your own links. That becomes pretty obvious really quickly.

I have done it all and still continue to do it all but have noticed that my blog became popular once I started branding it and making it an influence in my niche. Before I wrote article after article on the blog but never saw a huge amount of traffic until I started trying to get stories syndicated etc.

 

How to you syndicate your stories?

 

I avoid submitting blogs to RSS directories. I had a bad experience with them. In Google search results, the RSS sites rank higher than my sites. They get the traffic and I lost the traffic. Most people don't proceed clicking the RSS url that points to your blog. They just stay there and look around.

Dude, hit the internet pavement. Post in forums that allow signatures. Comment on similar blogs etc etc. There is no magic site to go to OR way to do it.

The best way is to just write quality content and get organic search engine traffic. If you have a unique approach the traffic will come.

I think Blog Commenting and Directory Submission are good was to promote your blog. Also SEO plugins are good.
