Does Yahoo directory carry any SEO value?

I’m sure this question has been asked before but I did a search and didn’t come up with a thread on this subject. I’m thinking about making the purchase for SEO value, is it worth it for my ecommerce site?

as far as I understand, it does. However, I have never been confident enough myself to shell out the $300 per year to see for myself.

I have bought yahoo link last year, and made 2 sells (about $100) from yahoo's backlink in first week because of yahoo promote my site for three days for new customers. but I stop payming yahoo's list this year. It is really difficult to say it is worth the money or not.

I've been trying for four years to get my nonprofit site into Yahoo via the free option. No success so far.

Yahoo directory is a good option as what I know. It really worth your money if you are entering into a good niche, but keep in mind that a good niche usually have larger competitor.

Yeah well it gets more free suggest than DMOZ:)
Also their probably busy counting their money with the paid listing submission;)
    Another suggestion_
Get your site an Alexa 1K or below plus PR7 or above and then post in your site a time waiting clock since the day you submitted to Yahoo Directory.
If their staff comes across your site and sees it they will go huff and puff to approve your site asap.:D

300 bucks is a lot to shell out when you are first starting a site.
I plan on making a little money first and then maybe after 6 months or so go for it for the extra boost

Both yahoo and dmoz were useful in another way, when people started their own web directories, they often looked the these two directories to get quality websites to populate their directory. Unfortunately that trait is lost :)

Yahoo Directory surely does carry SEO Value, but for purchasing it with $$$ it's upto you to weight the pros and cons (the expense obviously).

It's worthwhile for a big site with a big budget, but if your just starting out there's better (and free) ways of optimizing your site for SERPs.

1K or below? Oh, that's all I have to do! You say that like it's an easy thing to do.

My site's almost 3 years old and I'm getting steady growth but I'll never have enough. My marketing budget can easilly afford it but I only like to spend on marketing that will pull it's weight.

Here's what happened to me. One site that I own had a PR of zero. Almost immediately after submitting to the Yahoo Directory I had a PR of 2. So for a boost in PR it is worthwhile. But you will not get traffic directly from your listing.

    Yahoo still needs money :)
There paid options are really high, so free option will take high time/quality/links/popularity of your site.

I don't believe anyone has said it but google states that yahoo directory is the only directory thay actually support and recommend you submitting to. I am not excatly how much SEO it will do, but it will greatly help you in SERPs.

    Hope this Helps
