The design looks plain, to make the blog look better you should do the following things:

    - Get a logo

    - Get a more professional template

    - Add some color to the site

    - Add some graphics to the site

I do like the simplicity but you could still keep it simple if you added a thumbnail image for each post and possibly a logo.

Thanks for the advice. I won't go with thumbnail images, but logo could fit in.

There certainly is design. In my opinion it would be a bit brighter if there were picture there. The font is not very convenient to read. But the general impression is quite O.K.

First things first you should not put ''Blog On, Geek!'' A person reading that will automatically be shunned and feel bad about themselves even if they know they are not 'geeks' it is a reaction that no one can control
VERY IMPORTANT-- if you are giving someone advice on a website as of how to make a website you MUST have a decent website that is attractive or no one will think that your information is valid

that's too much of a simplistic design. frankly, it becomes boring to read because essentially it's just black and white

"geek" is used lately in context of describing tech savvy person, not necessarily with any negative meaning like lack of social skills, it is evolving from derogatory phrase in smth completely different, in the end it will become a compliment.

i typically prefer simple and clean designs. however, your simple design is kind of amateurish... sorry, but that's really what i think. :)

Too simple and has no pictures! We need something eye catching that makes your content fun to eat. The format looks really simple and I think you should have more content.

    I would recommend:
    1) Add more pics
    2) Add a fav icon
    3) Add a logo
    4) Create a appealing header
    5) Use a different colour scheme (atm its just black and white)

Best of luck with the site!

    Kind Regards

I beg to differ...very few "geeks" embrace the term, and rightly so. Anyway, you have bigger image problem with the idea of "blogging"...people turn up their nose at the word. I'm afraid to tell people I build sites in Wordpress because they always say, "oh, a blog."

Actually, in the more positive sense of the term, I imagine most real geeks shy away from the idea of blogging even more than geekery. Blogging is, after all, about the most low-tech activity on the web.

Apart from the, uh, title of your, er, blog, I actually like the rest of the design and I think it would work with even a simple graphic in the header.

These general blogs feel amateur because they are. There is a sense of aimlessness, of random topics, and paid posting or otherwise biased posts.

You won't get far with this design. But if you feel it expresses you, by all means, carry on.

What is the point of this blog, anyway?

    Minimalistic doesnt mean NOTHING!!!
You can work more the template and the content
Minimalistic doesnt mean BLACK AND WHITE!!
Add some colors, maybe 2 or 3!!
You have to make it simple but nice to the eyes!!

First, thanks for the constructive review. I am developing simultaneously with this blog and a website about webmaster topics so purpose of this blog for me is to post topics with a bit different approach, to develop relationship with other bloggers, to be free to go off topic and to drive some traffic from blog to site.

Some reviewers said I haven't got enough content, but blog is alive for about 45 days, so I guess there is enough content because it is new and it is a blog not a website. If I approach it as website, than I would write a lots of pages of content before making it publicly available.

Regarding lack of colors and graphics, it was my intention from the beginning to develop it like this. My first idea was even more colorless. Then I bumped into this template and used it. Intention behind this was to make it interesting because it is different from the rest, colorful blogs, and put more weight on content itself and ads if I decide to add them. Now, after receiving all these negative reviews, I am thinking about modifying this design or starting completely new one. If so many of you here didn't like it, why would it be different for other visitors? I like it a lot, but it is important what majority if visitors think. I guess.

So, thanks to all of you who have written your reviews here. You helped me a lot.

I can be agree with the general idea of the simplicity but, really, you should add at least an header so the user can understand what you are dealing with.
