Does anyone know the avearge price for a PR 4 directory submission. I don't know if I'm charging to little or to much. How does one set the price for any directory anyway. You just randomly set the price or ect.. Thank You
Just my opinion, but I would say you are charging too much. I would offer your regular links for free and featured links for maybe $5, until the site gets more established.
I think its established enough, plus by making it free, I get too many submission, with making it pay I get few submissions, and the people who submit to my directory will actually get some clicks.
Not sure why anyone would pay for a link in your directory but I am new to all of this directory stuff. There are thousands of directories out there. I checked your directory and there is nothing there that says that the directory is better than the free one I just came from. I would think you have to sell it a bit more. I would honestly just pass on it and go on to one of the other 879,000 directories out there. It does not look like anythink special at all either. It looks rather simple, but you may be going for that look. I agree with Sonic and his suggestion. My question to you is...You asked if you were charging too much, Sonic said you were and you turn around and said basically you're not so why ask the question in the first place?
My question was not if I'm charging too much. My question was on aveage how much do people charge for a PR4 directory, and how do they base their price on, because I was looking at different directory and they charged anywhere from $5 to $70. I wanted to know how they decided to set that price. And my other question was I'm I charging too little or too much. But then sonic said you should make it free, and I explained to him why I don't want to make it free, if its free I won't promote it as much, and the submissions on it won't get as much clicks, because their would be other websites.
I think your price is fine with 5U$ regular link and 10US$ feature links. You may increase when your sub page has increased PR too. (just my opinion)
Here's your chance to sell me: Why should I pay for a listing in your directory? What can you offer me that another free directory can't? The more you can offer, the more I'd be willing to pay.
After re-reading your question, your right, I misread. BUt I still think you need to explain why people should pay to be in your directory. If you want to make some money, you need to sell it...
One thing I can offer the other free one don't offer is I have less website listed listed than the free one and I get decent traffic(Right now 120 to 150) to my directory, which allowsthe website in my directory to get some visits. I notice some of these free one don't get much promoted as the paid one, which result not as much traffic as the paid ones.
It depends on a number of things, considering you've got no template and more importantly footer links to other sites... your directory is not worth as much as a typical PR 4 directory, I'd be willing to pay $3 for yours. I've paid as much as $50 per listing in some directories, it really is all about value for your dollar. I want my link to be on a low density page with relevant links. Those footer links to spamlessemails, etc. turn me off. Homepage would be fine, but the fact their showing on irrelevant pages turns me off. It also hurts that your directory is a subpage, and not a directory website. In general, I'd pay $5 for a PR4 (homepage) directory, that would likely get me a listing on a PR2 page.
I'd guess that not much of your traffic is from Google? - I see you're well entrenched in the Supplemental Index. I'm not sure of the value of being listed on a supplemental page.
Very help full info, thanks. Those footer links are just advertisements. It should not be turnoff as I notice a lot of directories have advertisement.
Just because alot of them do it doesn't make it in the best interest of the link buyer. It's a turnoff. No successful, higher dollar submission directory has sitewide links to other sites. The only sites whoring out sitewides are low quality or free directories. Just a suggestion, if you want a high quality directory that people will want to pay top dollar to get into - make it look different and ditch the footer links. If you must keep them, do them only on the homepage or, better yet, list them as a featured link in their respective category.
Thank You I will get ride of them very soon, I did a test, my website is not in the supplemental Index "How can you check if your web pages have gone supplemental? Perform a Google search for site:mydomain.com (replace mydomain.com with your own domain name). If you see "supplemental result" next to the snippet then your web pages are supplemental."
Maybe I'm seeing something different than you? I see from the fourth result: Supplemental Result site:www.gogettraffic.com
