My name is already taken so I registered the .ca version. Haven't got around to doing anything with it yet so it's just parked with Sedo.

Getting your own domain name becomes more and more important as time goes on. I've secured my friends and family names as well. IMO, your own domain name = your real space online. There are a lot of advantages to having your own domain name... 1. career boost. (blog @ yourdomain = resume of the future) 2. personal branding (look at johnchow.com, reedfloren.com, johnreese.com). if you intend to make LOTs of $$ online, your own domain name allows you to capitalize on your existing real world social network. 3. special outlet for expression. sure you can blog at wordpress, blogger, etc., but there's just something special about blogging on your own domain. try it and you'll see what i mean. my 3 cents.. =)..and my first post on this forum! My first and last names have been taken since 1994 and 2000 so I got FirstLast.com Not using it for anything yet, just claiming it so I have it when I need it.
My real name no, I dont see any potential with it lol, but as for my username, the .com was taken so i took the .net instead.
my name is very common in my country. So I registered fitstname-lastname.com. I was not able to find firstnamelastname.com. It was already taken
My name is just too common unfortunately. firstname.com and surname.cmo have been taken, all other extentions are regged also. Unless there's a new extention in the future, i doubt i'll be able to grab it. I've managed to reg my nick name on other parts of the net, but regging this nickname would be almost impossible (It's a Japanese band or soemthing) I also considered regging my children's names and blogging about them until they were old enough to blog about themselves lol.
Yes i do it coz its my copyright so that its important for me. In fact,i have register all the major domain extension of my name such as .com/.net/.org/.info/etc
