Mind Boggling SEO Problem

So I have run into a problem recently where my homepage(epicwallpaper.com) has dissappeared from Googles main index for all my keywords. Its now in the omitted results.

It is even at the very end of omitted results if I do google search on site:epicwallpaper.com

Im willing to pay 200$+ to the person who solves this problem.

    Interesting Facts:

    - All my other pages still rank very good.
    - Ive tried removing all outbound links / exchanges.
    - My competition sites have double/triple the amount of link exchanges.
    - The site has been up for 1 year.
    - I have thousands of backlinks from popular high PR sites.
    - I get thousands of unique hits per day.
    - I recently moved to rackspace hosting from dreamhost.
    - My site updates every hour.
    - I took my site down for maintainence for 1 hour and the homepage just said "Under contruction". My homepage reappeared for my keywords when I did this almost instantly.

Your home page is #1 for 'www.epicwallpaper.com' and also for 'epicwallpaper.com'. That means it isn't really *gone* from the index. It was last cached on December 14.

Edit: I did the searches without quotation marks.

Some funny stuff has been happening in Google with several of my sites lately. I second the 'wait a couple of weeks' comment - it might just be very temporary. Still, strange stuff is going on - I smell a conspiracy... ;)

(It's not so funny for those who lose a sizable chunk of their 'paycheck' though...)

Yes its #1 for this, but its in omitted results for everything else it should be #1 for such as "Epic Wallpaper" and "site:epicwallpaper.com"

Your site was indexed Dec 15th, still has links and pages. If you had done something negative, these would be 0.

Many of our other site have things going on with them now. I think the end of the year Google update has started. It is going to be a major one and won't end until ~ Jan 15th

    So don't worry until then.

The only reason not mentioned here could be that google might have banned your site. Did you try some un-ethical practices for getting more links, etc?
I'd suggest check on your google webmasters account immediately, because if your site was banned, it'd show there.
Even if it got banned, don't panic. Just wait and sooner or later google will re-index it if it feels you are not using any thing wrong to promote your site.

This is a good example on why you should rely entirely on Organic Search. It's a failed business model. Get links from sites that are actually used.

I have a site which ranks poorly but has plenty of traffic for it's niche... because I have real links from real sites that people are using. It's not easy, but it's essential long term unless you have a ton of money to spend on PPC.

Organic search comes and goes, as nothing is static.

One can not expect to stay on top forever. And if you are following along with what Google is preaching about personalized search... you'd be smart to invest more in other strategy.

It is not that far down the road where you and I can both type in "Bacon Cheeseburger" or "Blue Widgets" and get entirely different search results based on a number of criteria which transcend simple incoming links and on site optimization.

Maybe it was manually banned. There's a naked chick on your homepage, and you don't have an "adults only" gateway page.

The same thing happened to one of my sites.. I found a heap of errors in webmaster tools at google. Also I had some broken links which really do bring you down... It took about a month to get over it, but all is well now... I did the same thing as you did and started removing outbound links and other stuff until I actually found the errors that were staring me in the face..
I did put back the links I had removed because that didn't make a difference.

Ok Ill start over since you guys keep repeating :D

The site is not banned. The homepage only was put in the omitted searches for the top keywords and keywords it should be landing - it is still indexed, crawled and PR3. The subpages are still ranking fine

90% of my backlinks are completely relevant and from other popular wallpaper sites. Ive done no unethical practices.

I hope what some of you are saying is right and its just a hiccup that will be fixed soon, but I highly doubt it. There is something tricky going on here.

I monitor my webmaster tools closely and fix all errors and duplicate content.

Sorry about the nude, some pictures get added by users and I may not see it for a few hours. They always get removed though.

Have you done any hidden link. Google think it is unethical to get hidden link. May be that will be a problem.

I agree with internetmarketingiq. Organic search can be a nightmare! Even though we have wonderful organic rankings for our sites, and also employ AdWords for two of our sites, we receive 1,000-1,500 referrals from our industry partners' sites. We absolutely consider those links invaluable! That way, when hiccups do arise, and they inevitably will, we still have ample traffic.

    Best of luck!

Definately true...my link exchanges are what got my site to where it is today and they are what keeps me at thousands of visitors. They just worry me because some people say reciprocals are bad. Even though the top wallpaper sites have 100+ link exchanges and rank top on google with 30,000 people a day.

I tend to agree that having industry related links on high traffic sites is nice...but it's certainly not 100% safe or reliable either! I mean, in a matter of seconds, you can lose a link on any site for a million different reasons (site gets taken down, new owners, hacked, etc...).

Shooting for as many sources of traffic as possible is the best bet, and organic traffic can and will be a significant source for a while to come.

New info I forgot about - There is another site named epicwallpapers.com that uses the same script as me as well as the same host (rackpage). Could it be they penalized us both for thinking we are the same person?

A 's' tells search engines that they are two different websites and will not penalize you for their wrongs, not unless both these websites are interlinked. Are they?

Both these websites were created 3 days apart, in December 2008. Strange!
