    Saw this earlier.

I think the threat is fairly minimal but I agree that this will only help more people to see what firefox has to offer, I haven't used IE for a while for browsing, have been more than impressed by firefox and shall definately stick with it now.

10,000 web sites reported infected. Microsoft reports the number of attacks growing rapidly. This has made CNN and NBC news.

I hope for IE's death. I hate it. It messes up my websites (that look perfect in Firefox.) It's so annoying to have to add a bunch of extra code to try and correct for IE's idiocy.

I don't understand why people hate IE so much, yes its very out of date but FireFox is far from all its cracked up to be:

    http://home.comcast.net/~SupportCD/FirefoxMyths.html

^^^After reading that I switched to Opera which, in my opinion, is by far the best web browser, thee most secure and my absolute favourite .....the worst thing I hate about Firefox ... memory-leak free!

Firefox eats and eats and eats memory like there's no tomorrow, losses it and eats more

I admit I use Firefox for SEO etc because of it's addins, if Opera supported addins instead of widgets ...ahhh if only , but any browsing or security surfing its strictly Opera :D

All diehard Firefox fans I would recommend reading the source from the link above, it was a major eye-opener for me

I work for a school district actually, and most of the browsers used are Internet Explore. However, its IE6. We don't upgrade to any other Internet Explore or do updates on it. If something works, why fix it? Of course its out-dated but someone shouldn't be trying to do stuff like they would need IE7+ for at school.

Of course, when I'm here at school, I still use FireFox.. ;)

Microsoft didn't ask people to switch, it was other "experts". MS just told people to be vigilant as they try to work out the problems.

Lol! That guy's a whack job. Ignore him. Read this instead. Then go to the home page and read IE myths.

    Opera is an excellent browser.
You are running on two year old information.
You are misinformed. FF uses cache to store pages you visited. This, too, can be adjusted/limited.
Again, not only is that link seriously flawed, that guy either works for Microsoft or is a big-time MS developer. Forgot which.

I don't know why institutions are still using IE - its such a treat to the workplace, people should move over to Firefox - the main issue is that a lot of corporations have their own in-house systems and a lot of these will be IE compatible only and wont run on Firefox. Like Sharepoint for example, its javascript and active-x controls are not compatible.

Ahh come on.. IE isn't the only browser with security flaws. It is just the world's most widely used browser, so more people are complaining about it.

Give a good hacker 2 minutes with FF, Opera, Safari etc. and they would be easily hacked.

And how about if you were selling stuff and it was bought with details stolen using the IE flaw and you lost a ton of cash, domain names, websites, etc.? Would you care then?

btw - I've merged several threads into this one.

places i worked in the past hated firefox. i got in trouble for using it!.. they said to use IE because its more secure and its the industry standard. Hell even my bank's website has an advisory when i connect with firefox telling me to use IE instead.

I hope they all feel stoopid now!!
