Online chat faster and better for asking quick questions and feedback- especially since most who come to DP are here to learn and find more info/ research. Also much better for business networking and discussing ideas:)

On line chat would not be really meaningful here.

Real sharing of knowledge takes place best through forums where one can easily refer past posts...

I don't think there is a need of online chat in DP , as yahoo & google are always available online .

If you want to chat frequently like that; just use an IM service.

IM's like Yahoo Messenger, MSN and Gtalk do their job perfectly.

I for one, would not be in favour of chat being introduced here.

I hope Shawn would look into this

IM is for online Chat . Forum has a pm function , we could understand it as one to one chat .
If all member chat online, dp must be chaos and no one will start thread or post here .

Would be nice but it would be expensive to keep up because of the fact that there are so many DP members. :)

If we did have a chat, it'd turn into a "pick up area", could you imagine such a big community, it'd turn into "A/S/L? GOT WEBCAM PLZ"

    :p

That would defeat the idea of having a forum for posting in the first place.

It saves DP bandwidth Einstein :p they allow you to place your ICQ icon
[that thing with the Y (or others):D ] in your subscription postings.
All you need to do is click on a ICQ icon or DP avatar which takes you
to their profile page (if you chose avatar option) then click on the chat
options to the bottom right and the DP script will appear which links to
    that chat account:)

I suppose DigitalPoint is a big forum with a large amount of people, adding Live chat will increase SPAM, even if it doesn't on average 100+ people will be posting in there per 10-15 seconds making no sense and overloading the system with rubbish messages.
