Looking for a password software

I've lost one of my passwords. I know the letters and numbers that would be in it, but i dont remember the combinations of it.

Is there a software that would check the username (known) with all the possible combinations of the letters and numbers that I give it?

    Thanks

What's it a password for? If it's for a site your best bet is emailing the admin or someone involved.

If it's for an operating system like Windows there are ways around it.

    If it's for a program it's different.

Sounds like you are wanting to do something not so legal, but if you truly have lost your password to an instant messenger, why not just click forgot password and verify it is your account and get it back?

Are you referring to me? I obviously know the answer, but I wouldn't help someone do something illegal. As for an answer that you may not like, you can always write a simple php script to take the letter and numbers and give you multiple combinations. That is really not that difficult. But it sounds like you are wanting to brute force someone's password. So I asked why can you not get it back by clicking I forgot my password? All of the major messengers have that option.

It's a legitimate question from someone who was offering sound advice. I too wonder why you don't simply request your password again. Being rude will get you nowhere.
