First time I heard of such a law, just curious as to why not? Wearing a bullet proof jacket is extremely uncomfortable, but if someone has the money and the endurance to wear such a thing, it doesn't seemed to be harming anyone else......

maybe only the police who should wear the bullet proof jacket, not common citizen.

what will happen if a criminal or worst terrorist wearing the jacket? that will be hard for the police to knock them down.

selling bullet proof jacket should be illegal too, maybe only people in security services can have that kind of jacket.

That would make sense at first glance - however this is Indian Police we are talking about.

Having been to Punjab many times, I can tell you that the Punjab Police force is known for its corruption, human rights violations and fake encounters. These are also documented widely by Human Rights organisations such as Amnesty International and Ensaaf.

Maybe in this case, normal citizens need bullet proof jackets.

If a terrorist has access to guns, dont you think he can STILL wear a BP jacket if he wanted to? It should be made legal for the public so that atleast they feel a bit safer

lol there is no such thing as a bullet proof jacket or vest, or anything else guys. Basically all they are is "2nd Chance" vests/jackets. Most caliber rounds will penetrate them, they are pretty much only good for pistols (anything other than a .22 caliber pistol).

If you think laws banning someone from having one is going to stop criminals/terrorists from getting them, you are completely wrong. All they do is take away from the law abiding citizen. Criminals have no respect for laws, otherwise, they wouldn't be criminals would they?

And it would not be hard for the police to knock someone down that is wearing one, most people will fall when struck with a bullet, whether it is on a 2nd chance vest or not. Ever been hit in the chest by a metal rod? It has the same effect. An object flying at high speeds must transfer that momentum to something, newton's laws of physics. That something is the person.

Good thing they're not outlawed here lol. However, they are expensive, and the average citizen will not be able to afford one unless they REALLY wanted it.

Thats the problems with gun laws, all they do is take away from the law abiding citizen their inherent right to defend themselves. All persons have that right, no matter where you live or what god you believe in.

That is correct, A Kevlar vest is not enough to protect you from high caliber round, like one from Assault Rifles.

However, there are some advanced composite vests made of composite layers of Ceramic plates, polyethylene and steel plates than can stop high caliber rounds, such as M16 or Kalashnikov. They are very expensive though...

The idea here is that if such thing is allowed, it would be normal to see people walking around with BPJ.

However, since it is not allowed, it will seem suspicious when only one person is doing it and might get reported.

It is not if they can get it or not, but what happens later on.

    Peace,

Yes I agree, I know they work, I've been hit with 3 rounds while wearing one lol. But most of them, they won't stop much. However, anyone that can afford it should be able to have it.

And a .22 is a very small caliber round, it is just so small the Kevlar isn't able to stop it properly.

You must have been very lucky, 3 rounds isn't a joke, I bet you had extremely bad bruises. The impact is extreme, even if it is a .22.

The day you have to wear a Kevlar vest to go to the store and buy milk, you might want to consider relocating.

You must have really pissed someone off!

You don't shoot someone 3 times and not intend to KILL them :)

Unless you pissed off a lot of people and were shot 3 different times. :D

He was probably clearing bombs off the street and they got pissed they would have to make more.

No matter what anyone might think about gun control, outlawing the use of armor is a whole other leap towards ensuring a passive public.
