Is it better to have a directory that requires a link back or no link back?

 

I like things that are totally free. A backlink means you have to do something in exchange.

 

With a link back , without i don't think you have chances to rank higher.

 

I thought proxies need traffic not ranking... who cares about PR when talking about proxies. you may even not be listed in google... if you have lots of traffic that doesn't matter.

 

True but PR is useful when you wanna sell your proxy.
It can add value to your proxy site such as you can sell link at your proxy site for certain fee/month

 

I think he/she asked about a proxy directory not a proxy site.

 

Hello I have a proxy script and I was wondering if anyone could code it for me? We can split the profits. You need to be able to add adsense codes on front page and adversal on proxified. We can decide what you would like it coded in I think this could be a good deal for both of us. Also if you had a good reputation and were an active or semi active member of this thread that would be awesome!

Just got my proxy up and running after reading this thread. I shall see how i go with it, Just using the lock stock glype. http://www.nighttimecloak.com

Done a few yahoo group posts and a few top site submissions to get me going. Shall see how we go.

You should change your ads to "text ads only" if you want to improve your CTR. I only see image ads and I suppose other people will see the same ads and you will get more clicks if you switch to text ads only.

 

Whats your script? You can copy your adsense code and paste it to your home page file source.

That's not always the case. Over the long term it's better to have the option of both image and text ads. Image ads earn money per 1,000 impressions but they are useful on proxy sites where click through rates tend to be very low. However, if you have two ad boxes next to each other you experiment by doing this to one of them. In the case of nighttimecloak.com, it's only showing so many image ads because there is barely any content to go on - I strongly recommend you add more text.

 

Oh crap. I said I have a proxy script! All I have is a photoshop template. I need someone to code it for me and ya. We can split everything! Sorry for the mix-up.

You can get the free one. You can use glype (download it from glype.com), or zelune (search it on Google), or phpproxy.

 

And then my custom template will automatically work with it???

 

No. You have to slice it into image, put some css etc.

 

Ya I understand that. Isn't that called coding? Because that what I believe I asked. I need someone to do that! And we can split everything we sell.
