    Hey guys,

    Hope all is well :)

I need some professional opinions based on marketing skills for my specific website...

    www.Date-Rater.com

Please take a look at the website - Let me know what would be some smart and effective ways of getting quality traffic of web-users to a site like mine. I know there are TONS of ways to get sites noticed, but I would like to know which methods are best suitable. I believe my website would be very useful for users, as it includes many tools and features that many other sites out there don't have(I believe "uniqueness" is the best feature to have in any website). Also, I have developed a "unique" MySpace application for my site - please also take a look...

    www.date-rater.com/myspace/rate.php

Once again, just let me know some of your thoughts, strategies and opinions based on getting traffic to site/app like this. Thanks in advance!

    Happy Holidays! :)

Any other methods? - those ones are 'obvious' choices.

You are not going to get many "professional opinion(s)," as this board is mainly filled with kids, noobs, and complete morons.

If you are looking for more than just the typical minimum traffic, you are going to have to advertise.

You say that is the obvious choice? Well, what more do you want?

I understand your point of view based on this board. I would like more detail on methods besides just your basic advertising method through these mainstream sites, but that requires a HUGE sum of money, which i dont have :p and a lot of other beginning webmasters out there. I would like to know more about other strategies such as link building, seo, ad networks, etc...If anyone has any tips, please let me know :)

Here is all you know about seo. But keep in mind that just because you do the seo, it doesn't mean you are going to land high.

Many think that if you do the proper seo, it is just a matter of time before they land on page one. Or, two, even. It doesn't work that way. It is not a certainty.

    http://thelist.fm/search-engine-optimization.shtml

Start 3/4's of the way down. The first part talks about the reality of search engines.

You do not need a "HUGE sum of money." It is a misconception. There are other strategies, but they are very, very weak. Like signatures. You want more than the typical two-digit traffic, and you do not want a high bounce rate.

Here are the top click-ad networks:

TextLinkAds, TrafficSwarm, CasaleMedia.com, FastClick, BurstMedia, TribalFusion, Azoogle, GlobalInteractive, AdBrite, Adengage, RealMedia, Kontera, Avnads, ValueClick, RealTechNetwork, Dotomi.

If you want to advertise yourself, like I do, it is easy. And, again, it is not that expensive starting out

If you have marketing budget you can try advertise it with adword.
If you don't have big budget you can give a free way a try such as blog commenting at related blog or posting comment with a link back to your site at myspace etc.

It's a functional website and does the job, but the design isn't to my taste. I prefer a cleaner, brighter look like person.com for example. They have a great Hot or Not system.

Speak for yourself. Here is my professional opinion, keep link droping forums and you'll get more minimal traffic.
