First of all I have been with PayPal since 1998 without incident. I sold a item on Ebay.."Two Shoe-boxes of coins" for $820 This was a auction-style listing. Included was a gold ring was $400 when it was bought new! There was also a lot of silver in these boxes. I stated in the auction that I was not a serious collector and did not know the grades for the coins. And I did not list what coins were in the shoe-boxes, as it would take forever to list them all. I started the auction at $100 and was hoping to receive $350-$500 by the end of the auction. I was astounded that the auction went up to $820 while a few people kept out bidding each other. I received payment and used the money to buy my kids Christmas presents, and a new laptop for the family. I then received a email from the guy who demands $400 or he will report me to PayPal. I figured, since he bid on some items, that he knew little about...it should be his fault for bidding so high. So know I get a email from PayPal saying that they have put a limitation on my account until the issue is resolved. I have two dozen plus web sites that receive automated payments that will not be able to receive payments until the issue is resolved, which can be until Jan 11, 2009. In the meantime, I stand to lose at least a few hundred dollars in sales (maybe more). My bank account is connected to my PayPal account, which receives my fixed V.A. income in the form of Automatic deposit. It takes at least 30 days to change where your direct deposit is going, so if they did reverse the charges I will be in a world of hurt and can possibly lose my house just because of PayPal's policies. $820 is not a lot of money to some, but it is a good chunk of change for me and could set off a chain reaction since I am on a fixed income. I am hoping justice prevails, but I will still be out at least $200 in sales for that time period, either way. I need to look into some of the other payment processors, but I do not know which ones might turn out being the same thing. PayPal is the biggest, but are they the best? Their policies are not the best! This is a warning to anybody out there receiving payments from PayPal and realize this could happen to you...also. It would be alright...if they would allow me to keep receiving payments, after all I have been a member since 1998. Not some person who just started up an account one month ago. I guess loyalty does not matter to them. I will try to locate this thread again when I know more, and keep you posted.
that does hurt can u not just set up another paypal under your wifes name for the time being? and paypal deserves a good letter or phonecall from you.
Get 'em on the phone. Explain the situation, and ask that your other payments be allowed, or that this issue be resoved more quickly. PayPal Customer Service: 1-888-221-1161 4:00 AM PST to 10:00 PM PST Monday through Friday 6:00 AM PST to 8:00 PM PST Saturday and Sunday Are you using the same e-mail for e-bay and these other things? Maybe you can ask them to just block e-bay payments for now. Also, maybe you can negotiate, and pay the guy $200 to compromise.
First, I do not have $200 to give refund this guy to make him go away. The only reason i dug the coins out of the closet was for my kids to have a better Christmas. I did give them a phone call and the response I received was somebody in the claims department made the decision to put block on my account, because in the auction I stated "All sales are final, because I am using the money for my families Christmas." The guy on the phone explained that PayPal policy over-rides and Ebay policy and that by making the statement "All sales are final" makes it look suspicious. The thing that really gets me is that I have been a customer since 1998 and have never had any problems in the past, yet I am being treated like a con and losing money because of their policies.
Thanks, this gave me an idea! I will setup all my sites to send payments to my girlfriends account in the mean time.
Call paypal and when a rep comes on the phone tell them "I want to be transfered to the supervisor." Talk to the supervisor and tell him/her of the problem with the buyer. I'm sure the supervisor will understand. You should tell the supervisor: "I had correctly and honestly stated everything in the auction listing. The buyer did NOT read the listing in its entirety. I will NOT be held responsible on the negligence of the buyer's misunderstanding." What kind of return policy did you state on the ebay listing? This is paypal for you. They cause nothing but pain but they have people in a transe saying they're the best. Try google checkout or talk to your bank to get a REAL merchant account.
That really sucks. They've taken over $700 from me as well. Once you get this resolved I believe you should quit business with them all together. They are a terrible company, they think they're the best but their policies are just terrible. Try using AlertPay or Moneybookers.
Ya I was robbed of over 600$ too.. sucks. I hope you and your kids have have a great christmas man, cheers
Yep, gotta just keep calling them to get it resolve ASAP. Regardless what they tell you. If they don't fix it, just call right back. Squeaky wheels get greesed. Best of luck to you.
Yeah I second that you should use 2Checkout... What it does it accepts PayPal and Credit Cards, but not on your account, but on theirs, so you have no risk of getting in trouble with PayPal since you are in no direct connection with them.
If you did indeed state NO returns then you shouldn't have a problem winning the claim. As I said before just contact a paypal supervisor and tell the supervisor to have a look at the listing and tell him/her the listing said NO returns. The product was AS DESCRIBED and ORIGINAL so I don't think there should be any problems. Rest assured you should have a clear paypal account by tomorrow if you act on the situation quickly.
Even after high transaction fees they charge.. Paypal treats its customers like they mean nothing to them.
Well I received another email today from PayPal and it appears they ruled in favor of the buyer for a full refund of $820. The good thing is that they are not allowed to dip into my bank account according to person on the phone. I can honestly say "I AM VERY PISSED AT PAYPAL." Basically my PalPal account is gone forever, because I will never pay the balance on my account, ever! It is a matter of principal. I asked the Customer service moron on the other end "How in the world can you justify a refund when there is so much evidence in the auction listing?" He said " I dont know the details, other than somebody decided to favor the side of the buyer." I then asked "Can I speak to the person who made the decision, so he can justify his decision?" I was told..."They don't have a call-center." I replied "How convenient!" I noticed that buyer lied more than once in different statements to PayPal. The people at PayPal are bunch of incompetent @sses. My rating at Ebay is 589 and with a 100% feedback rating. And since they are one in the same. I'm done with them also. You cannot expect to treat the good guys like crap and expect them to keep handing you there business. Ebay can kiss my @ss and PayPal can kiss my @ss. I'm done with both of them.
There are just too many problems with Paypal, I wonder how they could even sleep at night when people are losing money over this kind of problems?
