I have a blog related to high school, and one of my posts were about drinking. http://survivehighschool.com/drinking-in-high-school/ My question to you is, what do you think about drinking in high school? Is it a bad thing? If you like my article, feel free to help out a new blog and Digg me up. http://digg.com/arts_culture/Is_high_school_drinking_a_problem What do you think?
It's probably a good thing.. kills the dumb people off faster than if they'd start in college. When I say faster, I'm not forgetting the process is still much slower than we'd like.
J/K. Politically speaking, I don't believe much in drug laws. "Back in my day however" (couple years ago), the people who drank were lost souls, no motivation, purposeless people clogging up the halls. And annoying everyone else in the process. I'm cool when a responsible adult drinks, smokes mary jane, or whatever. Kiddies just annoy me. If you're responsible anyhow, drink up. It isn't much of a problem if we're talking education. Government education isn't worth as much as we pay for.
It is a fantastic way to screw up your body. Spend more time chasing girls and less time chasing whiskey is my moto
Well, I'm stationed in Germany right now. I'm thinking that drinking in high school is ok if its done responsibly. If your going to drive hom after drinking, game over. I also lived here in Germany in high school (2002-2004) and I drank...quite a bit actually lol. But the thing was I never went out and broke stuff. If your responsible, I'm all for oyu going out getting a 20 rack, and coming home and getting drunk. Same with drugs, if a person chooses to ingest any type of controlled substance, I feel that is their problem. I think employers should be able to restrict it and enforce those rules with urinalysis. Oh, did I mention I'm an Army Narcotics Investigator?
I think the ban of alcohol for under 21 people is more dangerous than teen drinking itself. Instead of lowering the drinking age to 18 or something, it's a threat. Why? Because kids have, are, and will always drink underage. It poses a danger, however, when a kid has to hide it from his parents, or get home from a party and drive drunk. Therefore, the restrictions themselves make a potentially responsible drinker irresponsible.
High School drinking......don't the teachers object with everyone staggering about and smelling of ale?
In the UK, there isn't a problem with drinking effecting work on the whole, at least not directly. Most drinking occurs on Friday/Saturday night and the only real victims are the people themselves, and anyone who is unlucky enough to get hit by vomit/angry youths!
I've been drinking since I was in 9th grade if I remember correctly. If you limit yourself to a couple of beers or a few shots of tequila or a glass of vodka you'll be OK. depending on what alcohol resistence you have.
I think Evelyn Waugh says it best when he says college(same point stands for H.S) is a time for finding ones limits. How can you possibley know how much you should drink, if you don't first drink more than you should?
I think we should put them in jail and remove the ability to get Federal Student Aid for college like we do with other controlled substances.
And, did you know you are overdoing your liver even with a teaspoon of alcohol, leave alone couple of beers or a glass of vodka? Oh my! How can you ask a school goer to be a responsible drinker, when even a 40 year old can't be?
If he's talking about drinking responsibly, then you can't argue the point of how bad it is to drink, AND use his age as support, all in one sentence. That's like saying "How can you trust a grown man who thinks of stealing?" when an adult tells you how wrong he thought shoplifting was at age 6. If you do a few beers, you're fine. Who HASN'T learned their lesson the hard way, wrapped around a toilet seat for a few hours? If you want to harm your health, you'll always find a way to do it. Go eat a baconator - clog your arteries. I'm sure a beer will do you far less damage than that.
