Yes indeed I am a proud flag waver of the United States. Stars and Stripes forever. Don't you ever wonder why there are patriotic Americans?

I have no clue what your origin is, but the fact you spend all day bashing the US doesn't give me any indication of any national pride on your part.

BTW, I'm hardly 100% supportive of all American policy. No American is. The policies of the US are wide-sweeping and broad, and do cause hurt for many.

Only a fool believes 100% in anything. You seem to believe 100% in many things.

That said, there's plenty I'm proud of as an American and every now and again I read some crap in this P&R section and give my opinion. I'm entitled.

One thing you have to remember for those who think that the united states empire is falling apartment is that it takes about a century for an empire to crumble and considering that the United States just became a superpower about 60 years ago we have a ways to go, all of us will be dead before we see the next superpower

Glad to see you're willing to call us what we are.. an empire. Where'd you get the "one century to collapse" statistics?

I was reading somewhere that there is a point in an "empire's" life where they start to crumble and they related America's current stage with the stage of the British Empire when it started to fall apart... so that "century" statistic is out of some1's rear end. Times change, the world doesn't wait for your century....

    Empire
We are not an empire. We are a democracy. We do not, nor have we ever, had a king or queen.

Our government is of the people and by the people. Our leadership is elected not ordained. Our leaders are not given the right to rule us at birth due to their bloodlines and they are not allowed to rule for life. In fact, the highest office in the land is limited by law to a maximum of only 8 years. Less than a single decade. We do not allow a single family with a single agenda to rule for generations with old thinking and old ideas. That is how empires crumble.

In many ways we are the exact opposite of an empire.

Empires fail BECAUSE they allow one person or a small group to make all the decisions without question and with impunity. Ask the Brits :D

Trying to label us as an empire in your desperate hopes that we may suffer the same fate as the British empire is wishful thinking.

REALITY ALERT - URGENT MESSAGE FOR THE UNINFORMED: We have actually suffered far worse economic crisis than this more than once in our history. Trying to argue that a crisis that is not even close to the worst crisis in our history is the end of America is laughable and in truth makes you look like a jackass. I have just given you proof that your argument is pointless, baseless, and flat out incorrect.

Move along, nothing to see here....

I say we call this thread a wrap. And a sticky is a good idea. It should slow down the "HAHA AMERICA'S DYING AND MY THIRD WORLD COUNTRY IS GONNA BE A SUPERPOWER" bullshat.

If we all had to live in tents tomorrow I would still be an American and we would still persevere. It is a human trait to persevere and it is an American tradition to withstand hard times. Some of the most anti-government hippies I know are still patriotic in their own way or they would have moved to Canada by now. I think it says a lot about our country that we can have so many different ways of life and view points and yet still all be Americans. I prefer the term US citizen because it's more precise even if it is more annoying to type.

A lot more people have entered American than left it. I can't believe people think the US is going to fall because of some little hiccup. We have been through far worse and came out even stronger. Just because we are a better country all around than your third world shit hole does not mean we will die anytime soon. World Trade Center gets hit, what happens? hiccup, return stronger.

She will possibly die from alcohol and drugs before that happens and McDonald's should invent a better tasting Big Mac before that happens , I even can not tolerate their restaurants smell.

George B. we are an empire and our actions over the last 50 years after ww2 have shown this. This is not to say we dont have some good people near the top (Ron Paul for example) but the true power is now in the hands of the elite and their control over the 2 party system, and if our founding fathers are probably rolling in their graves over the way some blind sheep just wave their flags. My uncle served in ww2 and that was probably the last noble war (if you can call any war noble) that we have fought in.

When i went to school in queens new york as a kid i was taought about freedom and liberty, and even though the elite dont care about these terms , i do.
Tell me how we promoted freedom and liberty during the wars i listed below?

iraq war was started over a lie
mossadegh was taken out because we and the british didnt want a democratic iran, we wanted an iran that we could rape of its resorces at a cheap price.(lexiseek, are u waving your flag over us destroying democracy in iran? lol

I suppose we went into that lie of a war in iraq because the american people supported it? What a joke lol

Did the american people support bringing down the only democracy that iran ever had in the 1950's as something the american people would have supported?

We need to go back to the amazing documents written by our founding fathers THE CONSTITUTION.

I bet many roman senators didnt feel that rome was an empire, but nation building and policing the world is part of what makes us an empire.

Didnt einstein have something to say about flag wavers? They are just puppets that have been blinded to the truth.

    Albert Einstein Patriotism Quotes

"Nationalism is an infantile disease. It is the measles of mankind."

"Nationalism, on my opinion, is nothing more than an idealistic rationalization for militarism and aggression."

"He who joyfully marches to music rank and file, has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice. This disgrace to civilization should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be a part of so base an action. It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."

"Unthinking respect for authority is the greatest enemy of truth"

I dont even get the post to be honest. Peoplle are saying China etc and they are big already. Are you saying bigger than the U.S. in terms of economy? Then perhaps its China as their GDP was growing double digits but the U.S slumps and the whole world slumps

Please go research laws and actions of other governments. This argument is narrow minded.

China/India. These countries have ultimate work power. Some of workers don't even sleep to make couple of bucks. Japan has no chance for this race. They have crazy inflation in there. Russia can bump up the markets.

George you just proved my point by saying this:

"Empires fail BECAUSE they allow one person or a small group to make all the decisions without question and with impunity. Ask the Brits"

a small group does run your nation, they have done a great job in hiding this fact but more and more have awaken to this fact.

    LOL

    Don't worry, I wasn't wondering. :)

I consider you a kook. And not in any way a person in a position to enlighten me about anything other than your crazy ideas and fear of a New World Order :D
    Which small group is that?

Any one of the 3 major branches of federal government? Either of which exists for the sole purpose of providing checks and balances for the others. As evidenced in the Broadway drama that is the past few months of economic bills being voted down and or passed.

Perhaps one of the 50 state governments?

M5Love, this post you just made here goes beyond intellectual dishonesty. You purposely took the quote I made and made a conscious decision at that very moment to NOT bold the "one person" part. That's just sad and unfortunate for you.

Goerge B where were our checks and balances when we secretly overthrow a foreign democratically elected leader in iran in the 1950's???? Maybe you still believe in the fairy tale history you were taught in high school but people with their eyes wide open who actually have seen whats going on outside their country for the last 50 years understand this. When you ask an iranian student in the streets(most who are against this current regime in iran) why iran doesnt have a democracy, he will answer" but we did have a democracy but your government destroyed it"

If there were any checks and balances, i can guarantee you the American people would never have supported destroying democracy in iran which goes against everything the founding fathers stood for.

Checks and balances?????? thats a good joke lol
